Default LS Camaro Cluster for my Swap ???

Hi Guys,
Finishing up my 89 S10 Blazer with 6.0 and 4L80 and was wondering has anyone ever used say a 99-02 Camaro Cluster for there swap and make it work?
Does it need a BCM or will it work right from the ECM (Red and Blue) as far as the gas guage I can use a 99 and up Blazer fuel tank with sender 40-250 as my 89 is 0-90 they are the same size all I would need to do is wire it. Speedo and Tach I'm thinking I could also pull from ECM just not sure about the guages temp/oil, Serial Data from ECM ??. I have HP Tuners and thinking this will def. help. if its possible
Thanks
John

It can be used, just wire it up right. I dont think it needs the BCM.

Old thread but have a question, How does the oil pressure guage work on a LS Camaro cluster can it work on my swapped truck without a BCM and just the camaro sender from the motor
I have everything else worked out as far as fuel guage and serial data input for speedo volts temp and tach

Thnx Merv, so it works directly from the sender from the engine to the cluster no BCM needed then, I've been getting conflicting info thats why I ask here, want it all to work the correct way the first time lol

I dont know how your cars work over there, but I used a car dash(from the same car as engine/trans) when I did my LS1 to 78 pickup conversion, and i had to use the BCM to get the dash to work properly.

I thought it used the BCM aswell till I broke the whole wiring Harness down and checked it out. The Serial Data Wire transmits the Fuel Level, Tach, Volts, Temp, and Odometer signal. You wire it like normal Gauges and the one pin for Serial Data you splice into the one going to the DLC pin 2.

That is what I've seen in the cars..and I know there are ones out there that people have wired like that and are working.

I've been searching and can't find the correct answer as far as the oil pressure guage, some say it needs BCM others say No wth, lol.I have everything else wired except the oil pressure. On some harnesses I'm told it goes to PCM but just loops through it

In the US, do your LS vehicles use a PIM? (powertrain interface module) Out her ours do in the early LS1 cars, as the car system, and engine system are different data systems.
