Default spohn's new torque arm (stock mounting location) won't fit with my headers

anyone using this torque arm? what exhaust do you have?
i have jet hot headers with mufflex y pipe with cats, and the front of the torque arm is hitting the cat (drivers side).

it hits so bad i can't even hook it up. the front mounting location won't come down enough, so i can't even bolt it up because it hits the cat. i drilled out the rivets in the torque arm front mount to put the new poly bushing in, so i can't even use my stock torque arm anymore. so i can't drive the car

That so sucks dude, you just can't get a break when it comes to these torque arms.
The thing is most people who get to the point where they want/need a beefier torque arm also usually don't have cats, or at least have them located differently or at/near the stock location.

Thats the bad part about aftermarket parts. You never know what will work with what, espeacially when you put big beefy cats where they weren't originally located.

you are referring to the spohn torque arm that they sell that is the short verion that does NOT mount to the tranny. the one you are referring to is the second one listed on their page:

http://www.spohn.net/category.cfm?categoryid=1049

i got the third one listed, and it says "adj. torque arm - trans mounted". in the description, it says "Requires no welding or drilling and clears all factory or aftermarket exhausts."

i will probably sell this y pipe and get a jet hot catted one. this modding biz is a pain in the butt.

thanx cain!

scott the jet hot Y will not have that sexy Mufflex merge collector wouldnt it be cheaper to cut up the one you have and try to make it work?? i know that the jet hot cats are really tiny so that could help you also??

durien, i don't think the cat fits anywhere else, so i'm not going to try to tweak it.
i just ordered the jet hot y pipe, and i'll keep my fingers crossed with that. who wants to buy a mufflex y pipe with carsound cats? i'm sure the jet hot y pipe will make less hp (lack of a true collector), but thats a trade-off i can live with.

I'll give ya $23.00
Isn't the Jet Hot catted Y the one with those little cylindrical filter type cats that hide inside the pipes?
Wouldn't that defeat some of the purpose of why you have cats on there in the firstplace, for visual inspection reasons?

yes marc, those are the cats. when its time for inspection, i will bring some pictures and the receipt showing the catalytic converters. if they don't pass me, i'll go private again. i got two years to worry about that.

True, and just carry the pics/receipt in the car at all times as well in the unlikely event of a 'spot inspection' too maybe.
