I think I might give this a try. What do you all think?

Kinda old news but I am gathering the stuff to build one myself.

looks good and seems simple enough I just feel like that aluminum would heat up air coming in more than plastic/rubber so idk...

I like the trash can mod....that has enough potential for me to dump the K&N crap heat "shield" and make my own.

I did that with my old CTS-V. Worked great.

The new one I haven't had time but I did put a filter and tube on it and I must say that watching the intake temps on the dyno without the heat shield would astound you. Up to 140 degrees in a matter of seconds when you go WOT. Just tremendous heat being pulled in. I was actually thinking of doing something like those "hard core" intakes that people do with the GTO's where you drill through the body and put it in the bumper area. Definitely cold air potential... although it could take a drink in bad weather.

I did it, only to notice it continously threw lean codes. Checked filter, no extra oil. Cleaned MAF more then once... same thing. Figured I'll bolt it on a day or two before I go get a tune.
