Stereo & Electronics - traction control always on even when button is pushed

I noticed recently that i can't turn ASR off via the button on the dash. The light stays lit up on the button no matter how many times you try push the button to turn ASR off. I have read a lot of threads on this and other forums but not many threads relating to my problem... The traction control works like it should but i would like to have the option of shunting it off at the dash button.

Car is a 1998 z28 / ls1 with a t56

Well it's a simple switch and switches go bad sometimes, also a lot of switches have a fail safe on them so if they go bad they fail to the ON position. I would bet that's your problem.
