where can I buy GM timing chain set???
Where can i buy a cheap timing chain set? I have heard that the stock GM timing chain will work with a cam set up since my car is a 94 chevy camaro LT1
but I need to know if you guys know where i can buy it at a reasonable price for my set up.
I got one guy who said he has one for 105.00 plus shipping. can anyone beat that?

There are a few good links on where to get parts on shbox's site. Just get the part #'s and look them up. Is the one you found a GM set? $105 isn't a bad price though IMO. I think I paid around $120. Don't buy the SA gear set from local parts stores. The cam gear is cut wrong for the water pump drive. Found that out the hard way.

Lunati makes one for non-vented opti equipped LT1's. It has the correct spline hole in the top gear for the opti.

It is the same type as stock and although it looks identical (even the GM stampings), I have read of more failures of the Lunati set than a stock set. Don't know why.

OP, why not wait till you open the timing cover up and see if you actually need to buy anything. You might only need a chain. I bought the whole set because my chain was a bit loose and my gears were pretty beat up. You might not have the same problem.

Maybe I was just the unlucky guy that got a bad one but doing the job 2 times still sucked! It sounded like I put a gear drive in. I wouldn't take the chance. To be honest the new timing set had about the same amount of slop in it as the one I took off lol. Didn't look like it had been replaced before but who knows. Car has about 150k miles.
