Default Any AEM ECU users around?

Was looking to get a good ecu for my project (rx7/lq4) and ive used aem ecu before on both my race wrx and street sti and loved it. But i just dont see too many of the ls series guys using them. Any input would be great.

guys are using them to convert their old pontiacs to EFI as well. why not just use the GM stuff though? its cheap, proven, and tons of support and data.

My reasoning is this. I dont have an ecu yet so ill have to buy one ($30-50 used hopefuly) Then i would have to get hptuners or efi live (600-900) OR i can get a aem through a dealer friend of mine for 600 bucks right off the bat. My good friend is a tuner (badass tuner at that and he tunes 1-2 aem's every other day) But if it is total junk on these cars i was just going to go that route and my tuner would have to make it work
