I'm about to go up for my MECP certs soon, and I was wondering if there was any school in the San Fernando/Sylmar area, or anywhere close, that have manual transmissions lessons. I don't have any family or friend nearby with a stick, so hopefully I can find someone reasonably priced.

Why not rent a car and teach yourself? Its pretty much that anyways, someone gives you guidelines/rules then it comes down to doing it to really learn.

^^ That's also a thought, unless you are under 25 and/or don't have a credit card

That is a thought. Hmmm. I wonder what will be cheaper. Maybe the rental. Thanks I never thought about that.

Under 25 just costs more. You can still rent a car though.

Where rents manual trans cars ?

Avis does in certain markets, you can even go hardcore and rent a truck from U-Haul, Hertz, etc. :)

If you use Orbitz to search/rent Avis cars, I believe they will let you see if they have manuals available at particular locations. I doubt you would have luck at airport locations, but I do not know for sure.

Then I would try the smaller rental companies if that failed.

i would assume the hardest part would be getting it off the lot when you rent it lmao

Yeah you might wanna bring someone that knows how to drive a stick to get it off there lot, not being able to get it out of the parking lot might be a bad thing lol, dont pay for someone to teach you, teach yourself as said, all you need is a empty parking lot and some practice, once ya learn to get into first your good,

Haha , me and my wife are still learning manual driving, we rented a car here and learned in 1 day.. Are DD is a 5apd and we been driving stick for about 5months now.. Hardest part about our car and learning is our car doesn't have a rpm gauge :/ instead it has a clock :/.. A huge clock lol.. So we learned by feel and hearing .. I learned by just reving it a lil and slowly let go of the clutch while very lightly reving .. And from there I picked it up day by day :) now no more stalling and my shifts are alot better :) its easy you just gotta try :)

HAHAH. Looks like isn't too many to rent anymore. I might ask my uncle what he thinks, but I may just do the School just to be on the safe side. I'm sure some of these rental companies had figured it out and decided not to stock cars hahaha.

yea learning on a economy car is easier. I learned on my buddies gst eclipse with a 6 puck act clutch lol. Every other car after that was easy
