Default URGENT NEED HELP! Intake Manifold

The straw from a bottle of throttle body cleaner shot into my intake. The straw is inside one of the holes right at the front of the intake. I have tried everything to fetch it out. You could barely see it inside but now its not even visible. Where am I to go from here? Take off the manifold and get it or is it okay to leave it in there? Where do those holes lead to? Thanks a lot for your help! Really dumb mistake!

Now are you talking the intake manifold or the intake ducting clamped to the intake manifold?

That's quite a pickle you've gotten yourself into lol....I would not leave it in there; what if it gets sucked into the head/valves; trouble waiting to happen I would try to find something long and flexible (like a wire coat hanger)to use as a tool and stick some duct tape with the sticky side out attached to it to try to "pickup" the straw through the front of the intake if possible. If that doesn't work....it needs to come off.

Those holes are for the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system. The holes themselves are actually an outlet (into the main plenum), not an inlet.

Is the throttle body off?

Just take the intake off and get gaskets for it, might as well clean and polish it up while it's off. It will be worth it most defintely. Not a hard job by any means.

Theres a metal plate that keeps oil from getting into the egr system ,that is where its more than likely layin right now.If it went in that hole as you say its not gonna hurt anything. If your worried about it take takes about 4 hours to remove and put back, plus you can get a chance to reseal front and back with some right stuff sealer if it leaks like most do!

You guys are being a little harsh, we've all made stupid mistakes like this before don't lie. OP just pull the intake and get some new gaskets. not too hard of a job and plus you can clean up the motor a little bit while you're there.

Time to hook everything back up. The intake gaskets were redone 2 years ago. Im not going to attempt that. First time I have ever attempted to clean a throttle body didn't think i did so bad. 3800 series? pft... lol

wait, so did u get it out? yea for your first time your throttle body may be clean as hell, but if you leave the straw from the throttle body cleaner in the engine then you have failed overall.

I wasn't able to get it out. Tried the shop vac method the tape nothing worked it got pushed further in. I thought it wasn't going to harm anything.

You got access to a compressor? If not, find one. If so, rig up some vacuum line to a blow nozzle and crank the regulator on the compressor as high as the service pressure on the compressor. Determine which runner the straw is in, then feed the vacuum line into that runner as far as it will go, and blast away. Should knock the straw back up the runner into the plenum enough for you to grab it.
