New LS1 Owners - Newbie Tech - What year LS1 F-body to get

Well fresh out of doing all the crap for the Air Force and here at Tech school and after I'm done here I'm going home on leave and investing in a car and planning on an LS F-Body. But I've always heard so and so year is better than another and wasn't sure.......I want an M6 as close to stock as possible so I will be the one doing the upgrades as time goes on

I've dealt with the LT1 and such and was a fun car and was a great performer for what I had done to it but now I want to get into a LS Formula or Trans Am with the sleek hood but anyways was just curious about the year to year thing I know there is quite a few differences vs what there was on the LT1 car from year to year

Hopefully the cards fall into place while I'm down for leave looking into a Formula more and more vs the T/A but with the M6 they seem pretty hard to find

01 or 02. Changes are minor however and if you find a clean well kept car year shouldn't matter

Some of the differences matter to some people based on what they plan to do or not do with the car. Frankly, I've had a '98, '99, '00, and '02....and they were all good cars that each had some slight positives and negatives over the others for my applications.

There is no special magic about the '01-'02 cars though. Stock for stock, my '02 had no noticeable performance advantage over my '98. People like to think they can feel the extra 5-10hp, but you really can't IMO. I would always suggest that you go with the nicest condition example you can find regardless of the year.
