Yeah, u read it right.....The cobalt strikes again...

I have seen this guy every day drivin to work (along with a s/c miata I pulled on and cammed goat I mentioned in another thread I gave hell too (Will calls the Cobalt a whore). Gorgeous red SS that doesn't sound stock. He drives as "spirited" as me so I figured I could get him to run or at least let me hear his sweet exhaust at full throttle.

After days of seeing himm, we finally get a clearing...I'm ready for the ass whuppin. He let's me beep: we arfe at 30mph (sweet spot) beep beep beep.....pshhhhhhhht.....Um, I pulled a car....bang a gear, pretty much keep it, I see him startin to make it up but were doin 110 so we let off....rinse/repeat....same thing.

Wtf?

I get to his window and ask what he has. Just a vortech........on balding 275 DD tires. He said he spun everytime. No doubt its what happend. I'm not here to say tghe slobalt is whuppin on 400hp cars BUT I am sayin watch out for the unsuspecting. I spin a big from anything under a 40 but its all freight train after that.

When he was done tellin me what he had and what he wants to do next winter, he threw in the obligatory "WTF is that thing?" :lol: "fkn thing moves out, I'm drivin around this loud ass SS makin all kinds of trouble and your in your lil 4door pissin people off :lol:

I laughed and repeatedly said sweet ass car and told him about my hugger.....cool guy. Sweet car.

Remember guys (and to my neighbor who just put down 420hp on street tires) get some tire under your ride or get pulled by grocery getters.....

To the noobs: slobalt traps 105-107 repeatedly and runs mid-high 13. Its a roll racer in all aspects of the word :lol:

like i always said "spinning anit winning"..from a 12.2 that my car was doing got consitently sold the slicks now im doing 13.0 :(..spinning bad,no stalling ,just fethering it off the line.

Cars need tires AND driver. I was driving my dad's 335i home while my buddy drove my TA home from the shop. We lined up at about 35 and took off, and he couldn't get traction to save his life, and by 90 I let up with him about 4 cars back since he was just feathering the throttle non stop. Also didn't help that elevation back in my hometown is about 4600' lol.

I have had a pretty good run with a cobalt in town, he had 12.80 wrote on the window and i just said to myself maybe but doubtful, afterwards that car ran good, was a roll and he was pretty close to the back of my car, you never know what your going to get against those

The old slobalts. What are you running for mods and who tuned it. mid 13's is not bad what is the 60ft. I ran a 12.6 @ 118 with my balt with my nt05 up front. Just left the lowering springs in the front and put stock springs back into the rear for the track.

I appreciate the offer and thank you, but I'm not allowed to get out and do anything until at least friday. can't get out and do stuff unless I'm released for work. in case you didn't know, I had my right shoulder replaced 2 and a half weeks ago. can take the chance on someone bumping me or grabbing my arm until the doctor says it's okay.

I should be ready to hopefully return in a week or 2.

Last I recall Neal was still wrapping some things up with his setup. yeah I'm all for it when he is ready providing I don't break before then. I just got to get my hands on a go pro and clean my passenger seat up. :D

It made 697whp/620wtq iirc on 17.5psi with e85. Pump is about a mile away from my house. It's a Kentucky turbo single TC78 front mount with forged bottom end ls1 346ci w/ 9.5:1 cr and 317 truck heads. Cam is a TU1 from speed inc with hardend pushrods, dual gold springs, comp cam trunion upgraded rockers, ls7 lifters, dual chain. Built trans and s60 out rear.

Depending on the health of your block and whether it makes sense to or not, it might be worth picking up a 6.0 iron block and building it up over time while being able to drive your car around. That seems to be the hot ticket right now because those iron blocks are so damn strong and cheap.

Already doing a lq since I spun a bearing in the stock ls1, and gonna drive it around for a while like that. Hopefully stroker down the road with the block. When new motor goes in, possibly pick up some l92 heads (Have stock 243s now), a ported fast, and some new LTs, as well as a clutch and tick master. Hopefully pick some MPH up on the trap (118.54 at like 1600 DA last time), and get ready for the rear end before more power and actually launching the damn thing.

Many years ago I was in my cammed lt1 at a stop light on street tires. A friend pulls up in a 4dr kia with 4 people in the car and wants to run. I laugh and he says "i know u will kick my ass but I wanna see it run." light turns green and I drop the hammer. I look out my window and watch the kia casually stroll by with three of the people hanging out the window watching all the smoke pouring off my tires. Don't get caught with your pants down, get tire.
