I went to crutchfield.com and they recommended the MTX RTX658 it's a 6 3/4 with an 8 ohm voice coil it's only 40 bucks. Has anyone used this setup before? Opinions? I'm just looking to replace the stock speakers and not re-do the entire system in my car, trying to do this on a budget, but I want decent quality. If anyone could pm me a link to a speaker that would work I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

CDT CL-61CV Speaker System

Or, call up Dennis at DoubleD and ask him about Powerbass 3XL-60C or any other convertible component set he offers.

I'd save up to spend a bit more and get a coaxial mounted component set similar to the original speaker's configuration. I'd also try for a 2 or 4 Ohm impedance... 8 Ohm is generally a bit much for mobile audio applications and not typical.

Definitely get something with the correct Ohm rating or your system will be out of balance. Site sponsors have a bunch of options.

I just purchased the CDT CL-61CV system myself since my driver side was blown when I got the car and I blew my pass side a few weeks ago. I figured it'd be the best choice since it's proven to work with the car and be a direct install with little hassle. Couldn't justify the 290 bucks for the entire 6 speaker kit though, although I'm still thinking about saying screw it and calling him up to change my order.

My setup is very similar.

I used 2ohm Infinity reference 6.5" speakers in the door, 4" 2 way pioneer in the rears and kickers 6.5 2 ohm svc subs.

Are you sure that your recieved the 2 ohm SVC Kickers and put the correct wire with the correct terminal. I ask because I have to run my bass at "0" most of the time and turn it down for songs that have heavier bass because it hits hard (for a 6.5" subs) and overpowers everything else. Some songs even start to vibrate my front seats.

Also, did you use self tapping screws to install the speakers? I did to give it a great seal all the way around the speaker.

Just wondering.
