Slightly different cam profiles. Either way, an ls1 is an ls1 is an ls1. All make the same power in stock form within 10 HP. All ls1's make at or close to 350 at the crank.
My 98 stock with a shitty mac cat back made 323 at the rear wheels...so don't buy into the bullshit that newer ls1's are better for whatever reason than the older ones.

None. There is absolutely zero internal difference at all for a 2002.
In '98-'00, the C5 LS1 used a slightly different cam profile than the F-body LS1, and thus a different version of the LS1 intake that did not include an EGR provision or system. But starting in 2001, the LS1 was standardized across both the C5 and F-body platform to include an LS6 intake and LQ4/9 truck cam. From that point forward, they were interntally interchangeable.

I had this argument with a friend of mine who of course loves vettes and really hated to hear that my camaro which cost probably $40k less has the same powerplant as his vettes had. Hes a car salesman also...so he gets plenty of vettes. he always buying, selling etc. I really dont like those cars to much anyways, they cost to much for what you get and im not 50yrs old yet so anytime i can rub it in his face i do.

How in the world does any corvette (97-05) cost $40k more than a comparable f-body (98-02)?
Take a look at this link (http://ls1tech.com/forums/1740880-post2.html) for differences between years. There are some internal differences, none which really affect hp, but some affect longevity/durability. ie. rod bolts in 98's

i was guessing, i was under the assumption vettes were 70k and camaros were about 30k around that time.

The window sticker for my well (but not fully) optioned '98 Z28 was just under $25k. An SS would have been a few thousand more. A stripper V8 Camaro would have been right around $20-21k.
At that time, I seem to remember a regular C5 was somewhere around $45k, but I'm sure a C5 person could confirm this better.

you forgot!! they are totally differant because 1) The vette had a dbw Throttle body vs the mechanical in the fbody and 2) It's a Vette so its automatically better! :D
ok ya, anyways, I was reading on a few other forums this same topic earlier and the respones other people make are insane. One other forum even said "don't believe the shit they say on ls1tech they are a bunch of trolls" or some shit..... because they were saying that the 2001+ LS1's used the LS6 block and Heads.....as in, it was an absolute, oh and that the C5 Corvette's NEVER used the LS1 block, they always just used the LS6 block.....
Anyone reading this, do NOT listen to the garbage I posted because it's all retarded, but yes, other forums are filled with idiots it seems. The motor's are near identical to answer your question. I give it like 3 or 4 more posts before somone posts the infamous "Camaro vs Vette" magazine dyno picture :D :chug:

For all practical purposes the Camaro LS1 and C5 LS1 engines are basically the same. But right there is pretty much where the similarities between the two cars stop. So many incompetent idiots have the mind-set that because the two cars share the same motor they're basically the same vehicle and have the same performance... ugh... dumbasses. When in all reality besides the engine the two cars are COMPLETELY different and the ONLY similarity in performance between the two cars is straight line 1/4 mile performance. It is very understandable back in the LS1 days why Z28's cost around $25k and C5's cost around $45.

Thank you!! Now I can say about half as much. I'm not really a corvette guy, but there is almost NO argument to "a corvette is the same as an f-body +20k" They are two totally different cars built for two different purposes. Just because those areas that are different (and typically cost a lot more) are not in someones interest does not make the corvette an overpriced f-body. It makes it a more expensive car that does not suite your planned purpose for that vehicle.

Performance is more than just strait line speed...
Performance is more than just strait line speed...
Not to mention class and sex appeal. A Vette is an entirely different animal than an F body...

Im just not really into vettes...but i must admit, Ive never driven one either. I suppose if I were to be into more of a twisty turny style performer on a course OBVIOUSLY the vette perform entirely better but i would just prefer a nasty all out bad ass 68-72 chevelle and a big block with that type of $$$$... but for now my Z28 will do!
