Cadillac CTS-V - Roll Bar (PICS)

Finished the install of my roll bar. Work done by Mike Ruth of famous Alston Racing fame. Bar is 1.75 .120 wall DOM. I really liked Junior1s cage and I copied the roll bar portion of it. Excuse the car being filthy from the shop. I still have some cosmetic stuff to do covering the back seat delete.

Oh yeah, and figure out how to remove the rear air bags, etc.

well, regardless of how bad ass it looks, it's retarded. if you want an impractical 2 seater, you don't buy a 4 door cadillac with heated leather seats.

You can loose about 90 lbs total on the front seats. The rear seat is about 75-80 with the plastic trunk tub. The rollbar puts back about 55.

The air bags I haven't figured out yet. It's obvious that my car is just a streetable track car. It's not a daily driver
but I may want to keep some of it's street character (heater, AC etc.)

Are you able to notice any difference in the "stiffness" of the car?
I've driven FBodies pre and post Roll Bar install and the difference is night and day.
Got any video of your car on the track BTW?... Sick ride... Can't wait to own one myself.
ETA: I think it's awesome you've put the bar in... If I had the extra cash laying around to have a "track day" V... I'd be all over it!

That's the same way I look at mine. I did just drive 1500 miles across the country with it though (cheaper than the SRT8).

Thanks. Look, we all love the V1. When my car was new and cost $57,000 I would never dream of welding a rollbar in it. 7 years later and 25 track days have gone by. It's now a $17-19,000 car and I'm not worried anymore about the possibility of it not returning from the next track day. I'm beginning to push it harder and safety has been on my mind lately. A rollbar and harnesses had to be next. I still like to drive the car on the street as well.
I haven't noticed anything as far as stiffness yet but I have a couple of track days coming up. F bodies are a little limp in some spots and I agree with your observations on a roll bar.
I've got some track videos from Road America last year but I need to figure out how to post them someday.

My car actually has the same mods as yours, except a way bigger cam (assuming you have the GM hot cam in the stage 2), and probably better heads, so I guess its time for a roll cage. I actually might just get rid of all my seats, air bags, cut the roof off of the car, trunk lid, front bumper, and both back doors.

Not my style, if I did one itd be a bolt in bar that I could remove unless im at the track. That would have been a much better option.

Roll bar looks really good, and with the seats in there its a very cool car. It may not be for everyone but I have to agree that the cars are devalued so much now that would you buy a different car for a track car when you have one of these in your garage......
Does anyone have a roll bar - or seen a roll bar in the cts-v that allows the car to retain 4 passengers?

Not that ive seen but itd be very easy to turn that weld in bar into a bolt in bar so its removeable. If your not on the track theres no need for the roll bar unless you plan on rolling it on the highway.
Drag strip bars can be bolt in and still be certfiied to 10.0 i believe they are very safe if done properly.

Unless your car sees a lot of track time I wouldn't bother with any roll bar.

Damn good idea, that is exactly what I did. I went from a Silver 4dr to a black coupe. Why, because I can, but more so for safety.
I have seen the car you are commenting about, it is pristine, fast, and well maintained. The owner can drive his car to one of the most respected tracks in the world in a couple hrs, change tires and rock as hard as he wants.
He has made a very logical decision that fits his application perfectly.

What's your point in listing these mods? All I have are headers, stock FE4s with 112k miles and my car is still probably faster around a track than yours.

I don't know how some of you aren't getting how stupid it is to do this to a 4 door sedan. You render the back doors useless, you might as well just pull the panels off them and sell them.
This being said, Yoopers vette, I could certainly see myself in. But regardless, it's not logical (IE completely retarded) to completely nullify the rear seats in a 4 door sedan that you're still going to daily drive. He is a ricer.

Yeah he was like "why do you hate my roll bar?" I about shit my pants when I read that.
I've seen roll bars in MANY rides that I was like "Hmm that kinda works" in a V....NOT A CHANCE
I just like that he somehow thinks its cool to turn a luxury sedan into the most impractical car possible.
Yeah and I used to think that 2 door 4 seaters sucked balls but this cat took that to a whole new level
I like the fact he was bragging about "when I bought my car it was $58k and now that it's only worth whatever the fuck he said I don't mind turning it into a cock magnet"
so yeah your whole "strength in numbers" thing with like 3 people that agree with you isn't really owning me.

this is the dumbest argument i have ever heard. The previous owner of my car had only two people in his family so he never used the back doors. My wife and I only have us in our family and honestly if i have to carry more then two people i take a truck. So i never use my back seats, not sure how it would be a waste to pull them out full time. More so why on earth would you car what someone does to their vehicle?

There are people who are afraid to go out of the ordinary. There are people who get curious and have more of an imagination. Though not always a big hit with everyone, at least they tried. In all honesty, others need to quit worrying about how people mod their own cars and stick to their own car.

Clean cage.....while I understand the basis or Radons argument......the bottom line is you love your car, your drive it dangerously on a track, frequently, and you value keeping you head attached if you roll the thing over.
I debated for several months whether or not to cage my "street driven" Camaro. I was tracking it every month or two, and with the carefully chosen mods, and skill I developed I decided the car was too fast on track TO NOT have a cage. Good call on the install. Safety first brotha!
