Drag Racing Results - Good 60' but slow in the middle and top end?

I raced in atlanta this weekend well my car was leaving with a best of 1.570 but kinda slow through the middle and top end 12.20's-30's at 109-110. Mods are Torquerv2, YankSS4k, 4.10, Lt's,Underdrive,ls1 intake, full weight, all the usual stuff and full catalog of BMR. Or is this about right with just a crazy 60'?
local guy tuned it and it put down 340/330 dynojet. I know the stock heads and intake are holding me back but that's just me being me to try and see how fast I could go with them.
Input?!?
Thanks

Something seems off for sure. Should be solid in the 11s with your mods and 60ft IMO.

i'd say you're misssing 5 mph or so. nice 60', but i'd be looking at the tuner for any cammed lsjuan making more tq than hp.

I was thinking the samething about two tenths and 5 mph. Everything is new and I just got it running Friday before Atlanta maybe the tuner overlooked something.

I rushed to find a tuner at the last moment. The trans is new and I don't think the tuner was that experienced with tuning autos.

with a 60' like that and proper mph, that car should see 11.70s on the slow end.
trans tuning will make a big dif, as well. is it short shifting or hitting the limiter? not sure the trans tuning would affect dyno numbers, though. what was your 1/8 et and mph?

DA stayed around 2500 all weekend.
I will post the dyno graph soon.

Here is the dyno graph and a couple pics from the atlanta race this past weekend. 1.57 sixty foot times. WTF?!? LOL

When you say stock intake do you mean the junk ass ls1 manifold? What lid? Any ram air?
If you don't have a lid, ls6 intake, and at least free ram air I would say you found your problem.

LOL yes the stock ls1 intake. I have an SLP cold air, lid, and a real SS hood. I know the intake is holding me back but I still think there is power not found in the tune.

WOT tuning is fairly straight forward. Set a/f ratio then set timing. It is by far the easiest part of a tune. You say it shifts at 6300rpm, which sounds low for that cam...but then again the intake is going to choke it as well.
My guess is that with a ls6 intake and raise the shifts to 6600rpm or so and you find at least .2-.3 and 3-4 mph easy.
Depending on the race weight with you in it, there might not be as much missing as you think. A lot of the cars on this site people compare to are under 3500lbs race weight (even though they claim "full weight") while other full weight cars can weigh several hundred lbs more. Add a heavy driver and it makes a difference. Have you had the car on a scale with you in it as it is raced?

Do you have a dyno graph that is reved out higher? Did it feel liked it shifted good or did it ever slip or tap the rev limiter? Your whp #'s seam quite low but I have never done a cam in a car with the stock ls1 intake on it. But your power is still climbing in your graph.

Where do you live? Wondering how close you are to Gomer...
Weight of the car? The 7.7 isn't bad, because of the 60'... The mph is hurting... Shift points, ls1 intake/heads, etc... 2500 DA wasn't helping too much.
Where was the dyno?

No thats all he gave me. No it felt ok and I did notice the rpm's were low and he never took it to redline i don't think because the shift points were still set at 5800 at the time and when I went to the track it was bouncing off the rev limiter. Another friend of mine was there and just happened to have his hptuners and he adjusted the shift points to 6300.

I'm in New Market just down the road from you actually and about an hour 1/2from gomer.
Weight of the car is 3680 with me in it...i'm 220 lbs
Arthur did the dyno tune at his shop trackmasters.

I agree with lemons12!!! All those items are hurting your et! I have a 99Z a4 w/4500 vig, moser12 w/373s, ls6 intake and a small cam (old lunati 557/557 226/226 114) Its best #s are 11.66@115 w/1.57 60' and that was 7.38 in the 1/8. I'm at 3720 race weight and trans shifts at 6400. Tires are MT/drs 275/50-15. IMO junk the intake and re-tune motor and trans!! Hope this helps, Larry.

Gomer will come to Huntsville/Trackmasters to tune.. It is where he always meets us. We have to have a few different cars tuned in about a month or two if you want to get in on it... He usually gives us a pretty good price because he tunes so many cars at one time. I would be DAMNED before Arthur touch my car in any way besides strapping it down on his POS dyno, and yes that sounded personally because it was. LOL Let him tune the civics and supras, let Gomer tune us.
I definitely see you picking up some with a tune... However, I think you have a bad setup... With the weight of the car + chocked up top with the stock intake/heads it just peters out up top. The 60' is there so pay attention to getting it to breath up top and everything will start to come together.
Hit us up sometime man.. In about a month we are going to have a few nasty cars finished up from being down for some time.. Always good to meet a new car guy.

I actually talked him today and told him after I get my parts together and installed I would call him and get him to tune it.
I guess it's time to get a ls6 or FAST intake lol.
Sounds good, I'll let ya know when I have it running better.

12.20 @ 109-110 the ET and mph are right, I cannot say I know about the car but I can tell you 12.20 is a 109-110 mph.

Sweet, he will get you squared away... That will rule out the tune for sure.
I vote ls6... Money/performance is far better. Nice gain with a FAST but unless you find one selling for what it should, not worth it.
Good luck.

I still have stock 853s. It has a SSIK, K&N filter, Whisper lid, smooth bellows, ported stock tb w/ ls6 intake, no egr or cats. I also have an SS hood but the front of airbox is blocked off because of SSIK. I'm looking at cams for an upgrade right now! It 60s good but seems to run out of power on the top end!! Looking for a max-effort cam and possibly heads....budget is the real problem!!!

If the cam has been in a while always remember to check springs, they might be floating long before you can really feel/hear it breaking up.

Cam and valvesprings are new...less than 50 miles on them.
I'm gonna get with Gomer soon after I get a few parts and get it re-tuned...I will keep you guys informed.

OP DO NOT let Arthur touch your car in the tuning process. He doesn't know crap about tuning LS's. Gomer is a reputable tuner so is Clyde and Lane @ Hinson also. OP if I could I'd trade you some of my top end pull for your 60' lol.

Budget... Max effort... Do not go hand in hand. You will have a poorly setup car that you could have built for the same price and ran quicker/faster... Not to mention will have better street manners, better MPG, easier to tune, etc etc.
