Default Good 60' but slow in the middle and top end?

I raced in atlanta this weekend well my car was leaving with a best of 1.570 but kinda slow through the middle and top end 12.20's-30's at 109-110. Mods are Torquerv2, YankSS4k, 4.10, Lt's,Underdrive,ls1 intake, full weight, all the usual stuff and full catalog of BMR. Or is this about right with just a crazy 60'?
local guy tuned it and it put down 340/330 dynojet. I know the stock heads and intake are holding me back but that's just me being me to try and see how fast I could go with them.
Input?!?

Thanks

Something seems off for sure. Should be solid in the 11s with your mods and 60ft IMO.

i'd say you're misssing 5 mph or so. nice 60', but i'd be looking at the tuner for any cammed lsjuan making more tq than hp.

I was thinking the samething about two tenths and 5 mph. Everything is new and I just got it running Friday before Atlanta maybe the tuner overlooked something.

I rushed to find a tuner at the last moment. The trans is new and I don't think the tuner was that experienced with tuning autos.

with a 60' like that and proper mph, that car should see 11.70s on the slow end.

trans tuning will make a big dif, as well. is it short shifting or hitting the limiter? not sure the trans tuning would affect dyno numbers, though. what was your 1/8 et and mph?

When you say stock intake do you mean the junk *** ls1 manifold? What lid? Any ram air?

If you don't have a lid, ls6 intake, and at least free ram air I would say you found your problem.

LOL yes the stock ls1 intake. I have an SLP cold air, lid, and a real SS hood. I know the intake is holding me back but I still think there is power not found in the tune.

WOT tuning is fairly straight forward. Set a/f ratio then set timing. It is by far the easiest part of a tune. You say it shifts at 6300rpm, which sounds low for that cam...but then again the intake is going to choke it as well.

My guess is that with a ls6 intake and raise the shifts to 6600rpm or so and you find at least .2-.3 and 3-4 mph easy.

Depending on the race weight with you in it, there might not be as much missing as you think. A lot of the cars on this site people compare to are under 3500lbs race weight (even though they claim "full weight") while other full weight cars can weigh several hundred lbs more. Add a heavy driver and it makes a difference. Have you had the car on a scale with you in it as it is raced?

Do you have a dyno graph that is reved out higher? Did it feel liked it shifted good or did it ever slip or tap the rev limiter? Your whp #'s seam quite low but I have never done a cam in a car with the stock ls1 intake on it. But your power is still climbing in your graph.

Where do you live? Wondering how close you are to Gomer...

Weight of the car? The 7.7 isn't bad, because of the 60'... The mph is hurting... Shift points, ls1 intake/heads, etc... 2500 DA wasn't helping too much.

Where was the dyno?

No thats all he gave me. No it felt ok and I did notice the rpm's were low and he never took it to redline i don't think because the shift points were still set at 5800 at the time and when I went to the track it was bouncing off the rev limiter. Another friend of mine was there and just happened to have his hptuners and he adjusted the shift points to 6300.

I agree with lemons12!!! All those items are hurting your et! I have a 99Z a4 w/4500 vig, moser12 w/373s, ls6 intake and a small cam (old lunati 557/557 226/226 114) Its best #s are 11.66@115 w/1.57 60' and that was 7.38 in the 1/8. I'm at 3720 race weight and trans shifts at 6400. Tires are MT/drs 275/50-15. IMO junk the intake and re-tune motor and trans!! Hope this helps, Larry.
