Default Pilot bearing wont go in!

I'm hammering it in with a socket and it will not go in! It's starting to get marks in the metal from the socket. Is this normal?

it should go in pretty easy. try putting it in the freezer for a little bit and also lubing the pilot hole

The first thing I would do is to verify this by calling the factory or customer support.

Just wanted to add...I tapped mine in with a block of wood, which covered the entire surface area of the bearing. It went in easily.
Previously, I tried a PVC fitting instead of a socket. Tapping it in with this method caused the bearing to deflect, keeping it from being driven directly to the crankshaft.
