Default my 383 cranking compression

my cranking compression is 210.do i need racefuel or 93 octane.i have been mixing 1 gallon 110 to 3 gallons 93 amoco.what you guys thoughts?

Mine is in the mid-low 230's on my stock shortblock, not that it really means much as far as octane requirement. Whats your compression ratio?

13.2 to 1 compression.

(93 x 0.75) + (110 x 0.25) =

69.75 + 27.5 =

97.25

That's pretty high for pump gas....
It would have to be detuned a bit to be safe on reg 93.
E85 is always and option, and cheaper than race gas as well. my .02

I have run that much and a little more cranking compression but never that much static on 93 octane. Never run a drop of racegas.

With that kind of static you should have gone in assuming you need racegas and then you could try and ween it off but be careful and assume you will still need more than 93 octane.

most of the time i run a gallon of toulene with 4 gallons of 93 octane.
