Whats up guys, new to the forum.... I just traded off my 06 street bike for a 99 Super Sport Camaro that supposedly has an LS2 in it, I'm not sure how I can verify this. I tried searching but couldn't find any good info/pics to find out.

Hey there JustD. Congrats on joining The F-Troop. What took you so long? I also have a 99 SS. I was under the impression that the LS2 was used in Vettes circa 04 ish. Wilkipedia added:

" LS2 can also refer to the 1973–1973 Super Duty 455 CID Pontiac V8 engine
LS2 can also refer to the 1985 Oldsmobile Diesel V6 engine. "

LS1 - 5.7
LS2- 6.0

One word should answer your question.....the word "supposedly". Got any pics to share of it?

My brother has a 99 Z28 so I know a little, I was wondering where on the block its marked 5.7 or 6.0 so I can check. Or if there was any other way to check.

LS2 is going to have a sensor on the front cover right next to the crank pulley. http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&hl=en&sa=N&tbm=isch&tbnid=bTlcm1f20-a0sM:&imgrefurl=http://www.spectergtr.com/mm5/merchant.mvc%3FScreen%3DPROD%26Store_Code%3D320201 0%26Product_Code%3D12600325%26Category_Code%3DC38&docid=DoBIneVnRRDnaM&imgurl=http://www.spectergtr.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/12600325.jpg&w=274&h=332&ei=FivPT8SdO4iA2wX_2pDUDA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=194&vpy=138&dur=38&hovh=247&hovw=204&tx=122&ty=176&sig=110787802771227193852&page=1&tbnh=168&tbnw=139&start=0&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0,i:74&biw=1280&bih=705 like this.

You can also try and find the block casting number and search online. The knock sensors should also be relocated to the side of the block. No longer under the intake manifold. If I recall you can still use the LS1 knock sensors under the intake during the swap so this may not be the best ID method if a LS1/LS6 valley cover was used.

Well the car ran pretty good, about as fast as my brother 99 Z28... I saw that one of the spark plug wires was fucked up, replaced it.... Whole new car, I'm not sure whats done to it. But it makes my brother 99 Z28 look like a prius...
