Street Racing & Kill Stories - Lightning kill in the new setup :)

Just MMOB at a stop light, thumping away with my new cam This red truck pulls up next to me kinda stopping real fast, and i catch the faint whine of a SC. I glance over to check out what it is, and catch eyes with the driver. Appears to be mid 20s, young guy. I kinda smile a little bit to be courteous and he smirks, and says "How cute, another overgrown cavalier". My smile is instantly gone, becuase i was just about to compliment him on a nice truck. I responded with "Lemme know how cute my taillights are". As i finished he gives it a rev, and you can deffinatley hear the SC whine. He says i got DR`s on and your about to get raped. I smirked and looked forward.


Light goes green, i launch at about 3,500 rpm and jump out about a nose. Hit second and start pulling real good. To about 70 i put 3-4 cars on him. He didnt have shit to say, ricer fly bye`s me and then turns off. All with his windows up and not crap to say. Must have been dads truck....

Im sure it was atleast pulley/exhuast. SO i am very happy with the new setup

I THINK he was going to try and run the yellow untill he saw the goat.Thats why i said faint, instead of roar lol.When he revved it, revved it hard. Ive seen enough run infront of me to know how shitty they are. All motor hondas run around those things man. I mean ive seen a local dudes Turd CRX with a stock ITR swap on E85 with bent exhaust valves lol walk one from a dig. Obviously one with a turbo or a buncha shit will eventually be fast, anything will be fast with enough money. But in stock form and most of the time without an extra power adder there garbage.

I ran one with slicks and skinnys and got him by about 4 cars I was spinning from the light pulling away from him, he said he runs high 11's (not sure on his mods) and he made me pull over because he just couldn't belive a all motor LS2 beat him we were in a gas station for about a hour why he look all over lol. Most lighting drivers are like that. But that being said I'm currently whiling for a lightning for a daily.

Looked like the ford was spinning, they are slow stock a few mods and they can hold their own there is one around me that may be able to take me it's just they cost so much to mod vs. the power you get for the money.

Yeah crx had no traction till top of 2nd gear aswell, lightning just gave up lol.

Because a pick-up truck that will run stock with a stock LS1 F-Body is slow. I must admit, I feel constantly outclassed by faster cars; shoot my slow truck only runs low 12's with just a ported Eaton, 6lb lower, traction bars, cat-back, and drag radials...

lol. i have one of these 'slow ass trucks" and let me tell you a 4670lb truck going 13's stock is impressive. especially one that has zero weight on the rear and gets shitty traction from digs. now im not saying ill destroy all who race my truck but its got a few mods and it holds its own with cars putting down similar power. definitely surprises people when they race cuz most just think trucks are slow and have no place in the racing world. obviously the guy in OP's post was an idiot as if i were in that position id know a cammed gto would put the hurt on my truck.

I think you may be confused.... I hear of a lot of lightning owners who claim to have 800whp but then they get yanked by stock ls1's... This doesn't mean that the lightning is slow! It just means that a lot of the lightning owners lie about mods which in turn causes a lot of people that don't know much about this truck to try and label them all as being slow... lol i dont lie about my hp, thats stupid bcuz if your going to race the guy hes gonna find out lol. no to be honest im not sure what my L is putting out, its just pullied and a race tune and its more of my work truck so i dont really race it to be honest, thats what i got the mustang for.

Lightnings are not slow. I have a close friend with an '02 that would wipe the floor clean with that F-body of yours. :eyes:

Lightnings are slow and super gay with the step side bed. ill take a SRT-10 any day over one of those turds

And don't forget, that was his low boost setting... He said he turned it up another 6#s at the track.

FWIW my car was running 7.3s@95mph and I raced ^^^^^ (the car in this video) and only put around 1.5 lengths on him with the way his car was in the video.. I would say the SOM Ws6 was trapping a solid 93, possibly 94mph at this time.

Stock they run solid 13's so I wouldn't call them slow per se. Seen a few whippled/KB at the track run pretty strong (low 7's in 1/8mile).

If your close to south florida im more than happy to try it out with something with similar mods to my car, i have an SLP lid. Like i previously said im sure with alot of mods they can be fast, that applys to anything. But from what ive seen infront of me im not very impressed. Until i remember its a truck lol.

That run similar times to an ls1 stock for stock... And it is a truck.

?? stock quarter for the L is 13.4 to 13.6, stock quarter for the ls1 firebird/camaro is 13.1 to 13.6 depending on the driver. so you were saying about them being slow? not being one of those cocky assholes you mentioned just pointing out stock for stock a 4600lb truck holding its own in the 1/4 against a 3200lb car made to drag is impressive, and if the truck is slow then by that logic so is the firebird/camaro.
