Default Possibly Spun Bearing, what should I upgrade?

Hey guys,

Well my 118K mile LS1 might have a spun bearing now...
(Comparing it to youtube videos it sounds identical)

So I'm going to have a shop look into it, but if it is a spun bearing... What could I put in and upgrade it to? Would it be worth it to build this motor?

Or would it be better to buy a new or slightly used LS1/LS6?

Suggestions are appreciated

If it were me.....

Look into picking up an lq9, iron truck motor 6.0 liter. They run around 1,500$ and are pretty much a direct swap. Put your intake/cam/accessories on and drop it in.

Other than that, look into Thompson Motorsports.. Kyle has some nice rebuilt short blocks for cheap.

My buddy has an ls1 short block he just pulled in favor of another motor/D1sc build. We could even install the cam before we shipped it to you... It was a 226/228 .588 114 (exactly what I was telling you to look into in the other thread). If you are interested let me know.

Call and talk to Kyle...

Not really sure yet as it is not priority... I will talk to my buddy tomorrow and find out.. The block is his and the cam is mine so we will need to discuss it.

Cool, I'll give him a call!

And also, I tried sending you a PM but your inbox is full

Yeah if I could get more info like how many miles on the motor, etc. that'd be awesome!

If you spun a bearing odds are your oil will have evidence of it, I would drain it and look for bearing material before jumping to conclusions.

You may want to check all your pullies, spray a bit of soap or WD on each while the engine is running and making a squealing noise. Hopefully it's just a bad pully or belt. Don't forget the ac belt
