First, C5Zs don't come with T56s.
Second, plenty of people pull manuals out and go to an auto setup.. Same goes for the Cobra guys.

Ever driven an auto with over 400Rwhp on the street, let alone 600+? Is it as hard a manual, no. But an average joe is going to put it in a ditch.
Not only do they get shit done from a dig, traction is easier to come by.
Don't start this debate... Buy your manual cause you think it is more fun, cooler, want to impress the girls, etc etc... But being so biased as to say what can an auto do that a manual can't do. How many 3500# sub 400Rwhp manuals have you seen cut 1.4-1.5 short times? There is a reason autos dominate by a long shot on all of the record lists, hell even the highest RWHP list the autos dominate.

I love driving a manual car, but I don't kid myself; i know if I ever want to get serious about ET's or get into high RWHP figures I know that an auto will be my friend.
Not only are they better out of the hole and more consistent at the strip. The M6's are to expensive to maintain if your trying to drag race them with alot of power. The shock to the drivetrain and transmission is not worth the replacement cost just to try and prove a point.
The cost versus the abuse they see makes it a no brainier to switch to a more consistent, cheaper option. It's all in what your looking to do.
For me a H/C car that you take cruising around... M6 all the way, just because I enjoy rowing gears. Even my DD cobalt is a 5-speed just because it can be entertain sometimes when I'm in the mood to drive like Johnny Tran, this doesn't make me a 6-speed nutswinger though. The proof is in the numbers.
How many times will this topic be beaten into the ground?
Oh and "Holy Shit" pretty much sums it up for that Porsche.

Because, an automatic doesn't make a care more tame. Just more consistent and better suited for dig racing.
6-speed cars can launch well at the tack, people have done it. It is however, alot harder to whoop ass on the street from a dig with a M6. Look at it this way, why carry a heavy TV up stairs when you can take the elevator?

more like 345ish RWHP it's a STOCK motor and the converter eats up alot of power, weighs 3550 with two people in it(300lbs) and a full tank of gas. I have sub amp etc etc. its a fun street car that gets beat on 88% of the time the clutch went and that alone is roughly $2000 when all said an done so instead of putting a clutch in it I did the smartest thing for myself.

Ah, sorry I was thinking normal bolt on Z. Still should be 360Rwhp stock or so IIRC... Add exhaust and intake that should be 390Rwhp... Auto doesn't eat 40Rwhp.

I love auto guys on LS1tech...they can be beast cars and take more punishment than the t56. Some people talk about what they think is REAL racing, you know racing that isn't just in a strait line. its racing in silly circles for 500 laps of total snore fest.
Built, stalled, tuned auto's are competitive in a strait line from a dig. and this is a site where 99 percent of us do this type of racing, also known as DRAG racing. From a roll, or a dig and on a real 1/4 mile track (one with a tree) there is no comparison...autos destroy manuals.

If you want to say something like Auto>manual, you need to be specific (like for drag only). Its like saying slicks/skinnies>street tires. Yeah, for drag only and nothing else.

Agreed, and the manual (from my experience) still has a significant edge. For example my buddies mid 11 second (stalled auto) SS couldn't pull from my (at the time) bolt on only 6 speed car from a roll. Same result with a handful of other cars all more modded than me, and the ones equally modded get a few cars put on them.
Simply put you better be one nasty driving if you want to handle a similarly modded auto.

Manuals don't stay in boost when you want them to. LOL
Auto is a snore fest for you, manuals are a pain in my ass for me. LOL
This is why the huge turbo Supra's are staying auto more and more. People were swapping autos for manuals like crazy up until recently. Then they saw how these Lexus(Aristo) 2jz's were running so strongly and everybody was like HEY there's something to this not loosing boost stuff. Now the low stall huge turbo cars are complete dogs on the drag strip. They are easier to brake boost, never miss a shift and hold boost through the whole run.
The only form of racing I see manuals having the upper hand is circuit and rally racing (and drifting because they need the clutch kick to initiate drifts). However, the whole missing a gear and consistency thing has been eliminated now days with the use of manually selected sequential transmissions. While technically still a manual the clutch is automated.
For tiny little corner carvers that are road cars to me they are most fun manual. This of course is if you LIKE changing gears.
There is NO arguing the fact that driver error and the fact that the way clutch is just an on and off action, make them less than desirable for drag racing. The reduction in shock with the way a torque converter works makes them find traction easier.
You have experts like Mad Man cutting CRAZY 60 foot times on DR's. Where in my opinion manual cars if they are trying for a really good ET should skip straight to a slick.

ANYTHING else, auto wins by a long shot with me for many reasons.. Roll racing, dig racing, track, street, normal driving, spirited weekend driving, etc etc etc...

Yeah, for drag only and nothing else. again, but that would be if this was a site that talks about that barely practiced sport called DRAG racing. also i prob had no skill at all with my manual in a normal drag race so i just decided to get into the autox scene.
Agreed, and the manual (from my limited experience) still has no significant edge. For example my buddies mid 11 second (stalled auto) SS couldn't pull from my (at the time) bolt on only 6 speed car from a roll. but hey thats from a roll which is more like speeding together and not REAL racing anyway. i raced him form a dig and he ashamed me so bad that i wont mention it. Same result with a handful of other cars all more modded than me, if it was an auto and stalled i usually lost.
I have to disagree here. but im just stubborn so ignore me. Just shift the gears. thats what they tell me but i still fuck it up every now and then. The biggest mistake I always make with my M6 is i will start in a gear too high. but hey like you guys said we all do it i just never admit it.

Im sorry I just don't get this. my GED doesnt really let me understand. like what im saying is that driving is just too hard, i don't know when to hit the brake or the gas, I want a car that will never miss a shift, that will be reliable and take alot of punishment, and and can drive itself. My manual was the oposite. only 423/382, but trapped 118.54 in like 1600 DA. All the autos I have raced with similar or slightly less power (Gaunt's old Z for example, 400/400), were trapping a lot less. I think his trapped 113, we just ran the same ET. Or some other guys I know in the 114-117 range with more power then I was making.

My 3500+# car with 37XRwhp was running 117mph hitting the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift FWIW.

I still think its hilarious how M6 guys get so defensive. The only race I had in my old LT1 (228/236, slightly worked heads, bolt ons, TDs, 3600 stall, 2.73s) I raced my friends 230/236 cam only LS1 M6. When I finally let him pull around me after I let off at 120 I got the "oh i spun and then missed 3rd" excuse.

So why does this car i shared trap 15mph more than the 450rwhp m6 you claim? With 50more hp? So your going to sit here and say EVERY M6 that makes 450 traps 115, right? Down here some guy with H/C traps 120-121 with 420whp and stock 3.42s... Another one Andyislost (member on here) hasn't even dyno'd his cam only setup, he traps 121 (M6). Another one, studderin cam only setup dynos mid 4's traps 130mph (m6). HIO bolt on ls6 swap makes 426 traps 131mph (m6). There was actually a cam only setup on here that was a stalled auto and ran neck and neck with a stock 5.0 and ran like an 8.4 in the 1/8th. Does that mean all stalled camd cars are turds? NO.
You're talking to the wrong person about dyno sheets, i could give three shits about dyno #'s. They don't mean squat. Track results matter to me. Yesterday i actually posted on a thread where a guy dyno'd 460 (or something really healthy) with his h/c ls2 gto, went to the track and trapped 111.
At the end of the day, its all preference (like i said several pages back).
My personal preference i waited a long time just to find my car M6, i didn't want an auto its boring IMO. Posting my opinion vs your opinion is dumb. This is the last time im posting in this thread.
Edit: oh and for the record, if your having traction issues and your car not being able to 60ft that has no effect on your MPH (unless its really really bad traction issue) it will effect your E/T. Which is why in most cases a M6 will out trap an auto. An auto will out E/T an M6 car.

Yeah I think studderin is running 10.30's or 60's on his setup. The kid can drive his ass off and knows his shit, and has that car down to a science. All with just a cam and massaged heads (I think), and a ton of weight removal and other tricks. But the point is, he does it. And more people could too if they wanted to put forth the same effort he has. It's just that autos are easier than suspension tuning, so they don't.
