New LS1 Owners - Newbie Tech - Looking to buy SLP Cold Air Package for my 01 WS6 need advice.

That is the link to the SLP Cold Air Package that im interested in buying for my 01 WS6. I'm new to the MOD side of the F-Body cars so my question is simple.
1. Is it worth it? Good deal?
2. How hard will it be to install once its here.
3. Is this a good adition to a 100% stock car?

It's easy to install u just drill out the baffles in the hood and install the seals.

Buy an SLP lid off ebay, IIRC they are like 90$...

Speed inc sells the Chrs1313 ram air for AC cars, buy that.

FWIW a new clean stock air filter outflows a K&N.

You just had more of a gain for cheaper. ;)

Thanks for that advice, I have done some looking into parts and have had no one talk to me about this at all. I mat have to order and see how I like it.
Now would it be a smart idea to have a new lid as well as the LS1 JAAM?

Why in the world would you be on the fence? It's proven to be the best ram air made.

You would need an aftermarket lid the volant wouldn't work with that kit the purpose is to seal the lid to the hood

Don't get that kit it's a great kit but since u have a ws6 it's better to use your hood to its full potential and with the baffles removed and it sealed to an aftermarket lid it will out perform the chris kit. U have the ram air hood mite as well use it

100% wrong/false statement. The Chris1313 will by far outperform a setup as you mentioned, as well as most aftermarket kits. The only one that comes close is the SSRA.

No, that is wrong. That will not work best, not even close.

The Chrs1313 is far superior to that as well as other ram air kits. The SSRA wide mouth is the only one that compares and tests show the Chrs1313 still making a small better gain.

I like how both setups sound, IMO I see some pros and cons to each setup. I'm not looking for the setup that pulls the MOST power. I'm just looking for a fun Mod I can do that wont be too hard and that I can enjoy after it's done. So with that said I havent Picked one or the other yet.

"97ta383" With the LS1 JAAM what aftermarket lid should be bought? I assume that all I would have to do is buy the kit and then i'm all set. (other than the aftermarket lid)

"How long will it take" and what outside parts will I need to have? I just like to be prepared if im going to do antything. lol

Any aftermarket lid will work with either kit.

There is a NON AC and AC version, buy the AC version. No way will I ever get rid of my AC... I'm moving to Tampa in a few months also FWIW.

The install is not difficult, maybe a 3-4 on 1-10... Oil changed/filter change/etc being 1.
Install time.. Depends on how you work... No more than 2 hours, that would surprise me though.
All you need is the kit through Speed Inc.

Just get a lid. That is all you really need.

Any lid will work slp lids are good cause they're cheap and do the job. A lid is something of a must have anyway and u wouldn't get the full effect of either kit without it. Both gets are great and work awesome you won't go wrong with either. They're are both pretty easy to install as well so it really just preference on which one u want but def get yourself a new lid!

A cai kit is one of the most under rated mods imo.
They all work but the ssra is the only one that is really any different than the others. The duct extends alot farther and is square to the air which makes it a real scoop. I also like the plastic.

The SSRA is nice, it's made from a strong but flexible polypropolene black plastic.

I would go volant if i had a WS6... Not the best looking once u pop ur hood. But I figure it functions well. But if u want the SLP ram kit.. Pass. Buy the lid, FTRA and 3" coupler from hardware store. $10. Skip that $60 bellow. FTRA is proven better than flow pac. Lid is same. Paper instead of K&N unless u got a couple bux to spend.

No, too stubborn to not listen to fact backed by test after test and just continue believing whatever it is they believe because they read it from "joe" a year ago and took it as the gospel.

I don't have a problem with people asking questions and making a thread. I have a problem with the some of the suggestions and "facts" people throw around, it gets old.

It comes down to, if someone doesn't know what they are posting about they don't need to post it up. It is how false info gets spread.
