Customer brought by his brand new ZL1 this morning for a baseline before we mod away at it! This is an A6 car with 350 miles on it. The car left from here and went straight to Kooks Custom Headers for the mock up and fitment of their new ZL1 Header System. As soon as we receive it back, we will be installing an upper pulley, CAI, and retune.

Be sure to check us out of Facebook for future upgrades on this car!

About what I had expected through the A6, not bad at all. Definitely can't wait to see how it reacts to the mods you have listed.

Yes it made 484 480 stock. Advertised crank hp is 580 I believe. The manual cars from what I have been seeing are around the 500-510 rwhp range.

2in.Headers,3.5in exhaust,cutout,cai,tstat,oversize pinned crank pulley,
smaller blower pulley, bigger idler pullies for more belt wrap.
Ice tank and exchanger upgrade. +psig activated meth spray into blower housing pre rotors. I think these upgrades will easily net +100rw on stock blower. :thinker: Its what i would do
Sub. To this thread.
I wanna see how much it can make with common upgrades.

nice camaro, but i think the next gen camaro is going to be a whole lot better.I just cant stand how much this gen camaro weighs, just way to heavy imo.The new mustang gt500 is about 600 rwhp as stated.

This is an automatic car. The manual ones are making around 510 rwhp. This is pretty much in line with the CTS-V with the same engine in them.

Numbers are not bad. I find it interesting that the Zl1 supercharger whine is way louder than the Zr1.

With just a pulley, tune, and converter these cars will be way ahead of a 13 gt500 at the track. I watched several new 500s run on Saturday at Tulsa Raceway Park and I honestly wasnt impressed. The best pass I witnessed was 12.6 at 118. Nowhere near the magazine's times. Everyone keeps complaining about the z but theres definatley an advantage to the automatic when it comes to modding. I realize there are shops that can get 9 second passes out of them but the average driver sure can't.

team Ford has the same advantage with swapping pulleys too, though

For the factory rating of 580hp flywheel 484rwhp seems right in line for a A6. I just wish GM had given the LSA motor all forged internals. I think that would have made the CTS-V and ZL1 Camaro have even more potential since you could push 20PSI+ at it with a good tune. I hope they learn from this in their future supercharged motors.

I think it would have been better if GM brought out a new engine for the ZL1...Being the same as the CTSV is kind of a turn-off...:sack:

If I had the cash to buy a ZL1 and then mod it? I would have got the ZR1 instead.

That vette would put a nice little whooping on the ZL1

My point is that the Z has an advantage over the GT500 since you can install a torque converter. The GT500s were having a hard time at the track last week. When you pulley and tune them, they will be even harder to modulate during take off. Yes I realize you can pulley and tune a GT500 as well. I just dont think an auto ZL1 is at as much of a disadvantage against the 500 as most on here on the track.

new gt500 is 609 rwhp

a tune netted 50 more horses

anyways...one raced an 06 z06 and won by about a length. its still too heavy...took 170 more horses to barely beat one. and an 06 at that. wish i had that video.

that mustang that made 609 rwhp is the only stang i've seen that has made that power...i'm seeing a lot of them getting baselined around 570-580 which is still extremely impressive. the ZL1 is a pretty nice car and is putting down real impressive times at the track for a stock car. i do agree with most, the next camaro that comes out will be a lot lighter and might make for a "better" car for the performance. however, the camaros are selling like crazy so at least GM did something right for this car.

my mistake.i've only seen one on youtube but haven't been searching around too much.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZBKBf8Zsjo
i thought that was a cool video since it is the same dyno for both cars and should be the same day. the gt500 sounds like the exhaust is a lot less restrictive then the camaro, so bigger supercharger and less restirctive exhaust, no kidding it makes more power. but 100 more whp is definitely impressive. ford did it's math on this one

I checked out a ZL1 at the dealership yesterday and they are an impressive looking car, they look even better in person. I should have checked to see if they had a dealer mark-up or not, didn't want to get too close and have a sales person bug me though.

1ltcap, i literally said i haven't searched around too much, meaning i saw one video a little while ago. the gt500 is extremely impressive, hands down, for the power it puts down to the ground. as everyone knows, all cars seem to dyno differently, and every dyno puts out a different number. this video shows the 2 cars on the same dyno and most likely in the same day, that's all.

to the OP, i'm pretty excited to see what that car puts down as the different bolt ons get put on
