Default What to cover when cleaning the engine bay?

I know how to clean an engine, simple green and mist setting on the hose. My questions Is what should I cover with shopping bags? Also how do you guys cover the alternator? I've heard to cover the PCM but honestly I don't know where it's located lol

The reason I ask about the alternator is because all I can think to do to reach it is crawl under the car lol

PCM is located under the wiper cowl on the passenger's side. I covered up all the sensors near the intake, the dipstick just in case, the pcm, and put a t-shirt under the lid so water couldnt get inside it. Did it a few weeks ago with no problem, just don't hose the **** outta the bay and you will be fine. I also blew mine off with an air compressor afterwards.
