So I just replaced my clutch position switch but it did not solve my problem. I go to turn the key and all I get is 1 click. After a bunch tries it may or may not randomly start. Again when I turn the key everytime its 1 click. Battery is good. Checked my fuses those are good. Any ideas?
Started having the problem a few days after the dealer replaced the bank 2 cat. Not sure if its related, took a look under there and didnt see anything out of the ordinary.

I suspect the starter.

I suspect the starter.
I asked a gm tech and he said the same thing. He said the single click is the sound of the solenoid pulling the starter motor onto the contacts. Possibly worn contacts thus no start.
How much is a starter haha?:eek2:

Do they still do the free starter test? Also is there a write up on how to change out a starter, never done one before.

So for future reference, here are two helpful threads I found. For some reason it took searching for my problem in google to find these. I didnt find anything using the search function from the site.

I had issues like this with my wife's car. It turned out to be corrosion on the battery terminals/a loose connection. Check the easy things first. Also check that the starter is getting power/connected with secure, clean contact after checking the battery.

Chances are your starter will work on the test bench but fail once in the car, so if you narrow it down to the starter you're better off repacing it weather it passes the test or not.
I went through intermittant staring issues last summer, it will get worse and worse unill it no longer works.
I just had my replacement crap out on me last week. I called the place i bought it from, they offer a three year warranty. But ofcourse I couldn't find the reciept, which I am usually very meticulous about keeping them. I asked the if they have it on record because they always ask for my phone number when I buy parts, strangley they have no record of my purchasing it.
I took the starter out and decided to take it apart, well the main power wire from the solenoid to the brushes was no longer attached to the brushes. I resoldered the connection and it now works fine. Probably got too hot from my headers, so i wrapped the shit out of the stater with header wrap before rienstalling it. Also check the single pin connector to the solenoid, it becomes brittle and falls apart, good time to splice a new one when the starter is out.

replaced the starter this morning. Ended up breaking the pig tail, luckily one of the parts places here had one. 17 bucks. Installed the pig tail and wrapped everything in DEI heat shielding, I had some left over, hopefully it will make it last a bit longer.
Car starts up perfect. Now for some reason I have no interior lights...

just checked the fuse box under the hood and the ones I thought might be related to this were all good. Is there a second fuse box somewhere?

Ya lifetime warranty with a 35 dollar core charge from oreileys. I wanted to buy the AC delco but they were around 200+ from amazon and only had a 12 month warranty.

Bingo, blown 10amper.
