Hi everyone a guy I know is selling his LS6 BMW(drift car) for decently cheap.I really want to buy it,rebuild the LS6 and swap it into my LS1 vette.

Is there any particularity or everything is ''plug-n-play''?

If its an LS6 block then everything will "bolt up" but you would/should have the heads rebuilt with new springs at minimum and just verify over all health of the motor. Buying a race motor is nice but consider the situation that engine lives in. Which is HIGH RPM / HIGH G-Force and I would worry bout things like bearing life.

I am glad you decided to have it rebuilt.

The main thing is that the short block is slightly different but nothing like "stronger" internals (see forged), or more cubic inches (see LS2/LS3) so your looking at the heads which may or may not have been worked over.

In my opinion, you really need to decide on the condition of your motor, is it in poor shape? DOes it need a rebuild?? You maybe better off rebuilding your block, buying a nice heads cam package and if you dont already have supporting mods (LS6 intake or better) then start collecting parts.

How much is he selling the engine and what work is done to it? Stock cam? Stock LS6 heads??

Everything is plug and play. My results are in the sig. Like black said I would put some new valve springs on it.

What's going on everyone? I am new to the game, I just bought an 01 Z28. List of mods are: Subframe connectors (welded), its been lowered, SLP lid, programmer, 3000 stall and shift kit, Magnaflow catback. I was thinking either some longtubes and full exhaust with a FAST intake and fuel rails. Good/Bad? Also, I am wanting to do a head and cam swap sometime in the future. The motor and whole car has 67000 miles. Any suggestions on cam size, pushrod lengths, springs? Anything would help. I will get some pics up asap so yall can see the car. Thanks, David.

How much does a swap like that go for?

I'm trying, but just not understanding why you would want to do this.

Are you just basically looking for a replacement engine to build without having the down time in your car?

Exactly.I was thinking maybe I could do some head work/cam and headers while I still run my LS1 and do the swap when the engine is ready to be swapped.

Head/cam or forged high comp rotating assy I haven't decided yet.
Thank you blacck for the reply.

IIRC, you're thinking of the LS6 intake that 01-02 LS1's got. Some later 2002 LS1's got an LS6 block because of a shortage. Aside from the minimal differences between the two blocks, the only essential differences between the two engines are the heads and cam. So when you can go aftermarket for better performance and just as much drivability and reliability, making an LS6 out of your LS1 isn't very smart. Unless you're wanting a whole spare engine as OP is...or you're getting it for practically nothing.

I did the LS1 to LS6 swap... Search for my threads on it. Should find all your answers.
