It was a known problem with the '04. I've had mine replaced 3 times now. I believe there is a TSP for it. Call your local dealer and they should get you a new one and replace it even if it is out of warranty.

Just go to your local auto parts store and buy a replacement, I had the same trouble with two from the dealer. Went to Napa and haven't had a problem since.

Mine does this as well. What's the risks of just leaving it? Anything bad?

Not sure if this is the same problem you guys are having but....
The factory gas has a weird design. Don't push down on it while you turn it. If you press down it will not catch and lock. You need to just set it in the hole and turn it without pressing down. Turn it till it clicks a bunch of times. Just check it by pulling up. Done.
I figured this out when I first bought the car. I F'd with it for 5 min until I gave up, drove it home and f'd with it more and finally figured it out lol.

I actually had a similar problem when I bought mine..took it to Autozone and they did a diagnostic. They said it was probably the fuel cap, so bought another one..a couple hours later the CEL came back on. So I took it to a GM dealer. Turns out it was a fuel sensor that had to be replaced. After the fix I have had no problems. That was maybe 6 months ago. They charged me about $800 bucks though. Aparently the entire fuel tank had to be removed to change it? Anyone ever heard of the sensor going bad? Good thing I had a warranty.
