bad solder joints.its a easy fix if you can solder.search is your best friend.

I can solder, and I guess I know my Sunday project now.
Re-flow the solder on the pins of the display.

joe_kool315 knows his stuff, instructions were perfect. Radio display is functional, total cost $0. Took about an hour.

Yes I saw that second link, it was in my first post. I wanted to confirm what I was seeing was that issue, and not something else.
Sorry I missed the link. Yes that is the same issue you were having (which you've resolved). I went through 3 Monsoon headunits because of that (replaced under warranty -- 3rd one is still functional and sitting in a box since I replaced it with with a NAV unit).
