I am about ready to put the motor in the car. I should have the break in miles on the clutch, and motor, and be finished tuning by the end of the month. So I thought I would post up a thread about the build and see what you guys think it may put down for numbers. (I will take it to the dyno sometime this summer)

98 T/A M6, 12 bolt with 4.11, Monster stage 5 clutch with flywheel

ERL 441 shortblock, 4.125 bore/4.125 stroke
11.25:1 static compression ratio

LSA caddy heads, cnc ported by Wegner Motorsports 68.8cc (very, very nice work:cheers:

Comp Cam, 54-472-11 243/259 .624/.624 on a 114 lsa (curious about this cam with these heads, wonder what smaller may do? But we will see)

Stock take off LS3 intake manifold with 92 t/b

American Racing 1 7/8 headers y-pipe, magnaflow catback with e-cutout.

I do have a Nitrous Outlet plate and stand alone, but dont figure that I will be spraying it on the dyno. Only at the track, maybe a time or two this year. 200 hit.

I am sure that it would really run with a set of ls7 heads, but they just are not in the budget. This all started out as a "just freshen my 402" and turned into this. Car went 10.99 with the 402, full weight street car, plus cage ect.. I did add a BMR k member this winter.

Honestly I dont know what it will make for numbers, or run. I assume that it should run better than the 402 did, with more torque. I never had the 402 on the dyno but going by weight and trap (125 on motor) I was guessing it to put down 515-525 or so. So with this I would like to see 550/500. I would be happy with 530/500, not excited, just happy. A friend of mine built almost the identical setup in a GTO, (he used a ls7 block, similar heads, much smaller cam) and put down 515 on a known stingy dyno dynamics dyno (supposed to read 10-15 lower than dynojet in the area) So that took the wind out of my sails a bit.

Let me know what you think

550 shouldnt be a problem. I have a 427 with ls3 unported heads, fast 102, 90 tb, 11.1 comp, and a cam that is close. It made 530.

I hope you are right. I would be very happy with 550, (would be good to beat my buddies cobra that made 545 on race tune with ported eaton)

Reason I am skeptical about the cam is everything I read says that smaller is better with these heads. I figured what the hell, cams are not hard to change if need be. If you dont mind me asking what are your specs delphi??

Also from what i have seen the FAST doesnt do much for the ls3 style heads. Plus you cant beat the price of a new take off from SLP with injectors and all, bout 1/4 of fast $$

Ya know that is what everybody says. It may happen sometime but for now mainly motor and spray once in a while at the track. Four kids mean boost is a wayz off

Very few turbo cars will keep up with this thing on motor, let alone nitrous.

No numbers yet, car has been at the body shop since april for a few little things. Was supposed to have it back first week of May. Needless to say i am not pleased, but the body guy is a buddy of mine so i cant get too pissed. Hope to have it back this next week

At the wheels?! Hahahaha, no. You are right in there with the 540/550 range. That will be a nice cam. Not perfect for the heads you have but if you ever go to the LS7 head and intake it will be perfect. I had almost the same combo and cam a couple years ago except for it being a stick car and i layed down 560 at the wheel thru an auto with a Ford 9inch. I think you will be happy with the outcome.

ramair, I hope you are right. I intend on going to a ls7 set up in the future, the extra funds are just not there now,and for what I got in these heads I should never loose much money on them.

When you say same setup, did you have ls3 heads, or ls7??

BTW: do you think you boys from MN will get to Tri State, Cedar Falls, or Cordova this year?? If ya do let me know. I hope for the love of god to have this thing together and running for at least one track day yet this year.

I had the stock casting LS7 heads with a stock ported ls7 intake. I will definitely be going to Cedar yet this year, just not sure when. Hopefully i'll see ya there. :)

Got her running a few days ago. Sounds awesome. Finished up the alignment today, and start street tuning tonite. Hope to hit the dyno to dial in the timing before the end of the month. Then track it in early Oct.

Looking forward to your numbers! Maybe see you at Cedar one of these weekends? :usa:

I am looking forward to seeing the hp numbers too!
I met with you earlier this year and picked up your stroker kit. I went a different direction myself, so I did not end up using it. Hopefully we may cross paths again, I would love to check out your car!

Took the car up to the dyno yesterday. Things went well. It was a mustang dyno so I knew that the numbers would not be impressive (owner says his reads consistantly 12 to 15% lower than the dyno jet down the street, mine was one of very few to make 500 n/a on his dyno) First baseline pull it made 458/436.

I had done all tuning on the street, with the only changes to the Maf table and ve table. Still running off the timing table from my 402. The air fuel was good, a bit fat getting into it, but by the upper rpms it was sitting right at 12.8 so there would be more to gain there if wanted. We added some timing to it and it really woke up. Made 490/462, then opened the cut out and did 502/475. The cut out did loose tq in the midrange as expected. (the magnaflow must be pretty good exhaust as well)

With the timing changes it picked up a ton in the midrange, that is where it really shines.

At any rate no matter what the numbers say the changes to the timing made all the difference, that is all we messed with. And that is what a dyno is for, to see if the changes you made did good, bad or otherwise. The car drives amazing on the street, has got instant throttle response, the surging is gone, runs smoother and all around better. PLus it just flat out moves, I have to feather the throttle in third now or it just cuts the 315 nitto 555's loose at will. VERY happy with how it runs. Hope to make it to the BOP shootout at Cordova this weekend to see what it runs.
