Should be able to use one wire (brown) for charging, I'd buy the correct pigtail or modify one if you have it already

This link has pretty simple instructions.

Beside the main power out you just need to hook up a single voltage sensing wire preferably through the dash charge light. If you don't have a light available, then use a resistor like shown in the diagram.

I would use the lamp as the resistor so when it charges it will go off.And you know it is charging and if you throw a belt it will come back on.

This is how I did mine as well (with the resistor). No issues.

I would use a 87-92 F body alternator in the bracket you have, it will work, with a bit of thinking and lines up perfect. But thats me.

I put them on my truck brackets and did test fit a f body bracket with success, but only have pics of the truck setups.

Had a similar ?

I don't have an alternator at all. Was thinking of ordering one of the one wire deals off Ebay. This is a carb fox body. Car doesn't have a light, but does have an autometer volt gauge. Do I still need to use a resistor?

zone what all did you have to do to make it line up? looking to go that route.

Nothing, it just lines up, one side needs the dowel removed,, then a washer or two between the bracket and alternator so there is no stress when the bolt is tightened. Used a newer alternator on the 85 TA, had to grind the bracket a bit, but the 88-92 v8 and 88-95 v8 half ton alternator are best.

Thanks for the help guys. I got my F body Alternator on my car. Got it out of the bone yard and they left the pigtail on it for me. I ran the wire on the pig tail to a light I bought at the parts store and put in the dash, then over to 12v with switch on and it works great.

Just like link above.

Np, as long as it is a truck or you have a cowl, it is a stupid cheap alternative to a f body or custom setup with a carb.

Can I run the wire through my stock voltmeter on my 81 camaro? Wouldn't it do the same thing as the charging light?
