Fueling & Injection - Has Anyone Experienced This

So we recently converted a buddy of mines car over to e85, and to back track here he had great oil pressure on 93 octane, once tuned on the e85 oil pressure drastically dropped at idle to ~5 or so psi......but the motor sounds very healthy. So he changed the oil again with 5w 30 mobil one synth. start the motor up and its back to perfect oil pressure 30-40 psi. About 15 miles later its doing the same thing and the oil smells like ethanol.

Heres my opinion, the ethonol dillutes or thins the low weight oil very quickly and the solution seems to be to put a diesel type oil such as rotella 10w 40 to aid in the breakdown of the oil from ethanol.Even Mobil one themselves said to switch over to a thicker type diesel oil.


Has anyone encountered this?

if you're "thinning" the oil enough with fuel to affect oil pressure, then you're running way too rich or have ignition problems

well i thought the same thing too, it does have a rich idol due to the large injectors, but i wouldnt have thought it was rich enough to do that.

a/f is 12.8 across the board but idle is slightly richer.
