Generation IV Internal Engine - looking at replacing ls6 with ls2/402 stroker

I spun a rod bearing last night, and now I'm thinking it's time for a stroker short block.

I already have PRC Stage 2.5 LS6 heads (replaced 243 casting heads), and a texas speed MS3 cam (237/242)

What I want to know is, will these heads perform well on an ls2 or a 402 stroker, also, what would need to be done for this engine to bolt into an 04 CTS-V? I like the idea of a stroker motor, but I'd also like to get a feel for prices.

any input? would i be better off going with a 383 stroker? or just a stock ls6? stock ls2?

also what kind of injectors would i need for this setup?

and if I decide to go stock LS2 (which is honestly the most likely), i'm assuming my heads and cam will work just fine... correct?

I think it was Hot Rod Mag that did a test of cathedral port heads on a 408, both aftermarket and a set of TEA ported 243's. All of them made incredible power and torque. Well over 600 HP at the flywheel and 530-540 torque or more.

They compared them to a set of ported aftermarket LS3 types. The LS3's were slightly stronger.....but not that much.

We have a Schwanke 383 in our Road Race tube frame Camaro and it is strong, but no match for the 402/408. I think the 4.0 + bore block is just superior to the 3.9 bore LS1/LS6 block plus the extra inches.

If you can afford the extra 800 or so bucks for the 402 I say go that route.

There will probably be a diff in reluctors LS6 vs LS2/402.

If you wanted to keep it simple though the 383 would make good power and torque and you could use your original block if not damaged.

Our Carbureted (Holley 750) Schwanke 383 made 570 HP and 480 something torque on the engine dyno. Cam is something like 612/ 240 ish

I'm thinking that too. The thing that kills me is that my clutch is pretty new, and I don't think the ls7 clutch can handle an ls2 stroker, and I really don't feel like putting even more money into it.

So I can use an ls2 block with my ls6 heads, intake, and current cam, for sure?

LS2's used the cathedral port 243 or 799 cylinder heads as well.

To help you out I have a 406 LS2 stroker with the 2.5 ls6 heads and 239/247 113 cam from texas speed. On the stock intake I made 491 at the wheels and 451 torq. The heads will be fine and will flow with the 402, I'd go with 1 7/8 headers. Hope this helped.
