Exclamation Vids: 2012 R/T Charger at the track - stock on DR's

About 6 months ago my sis picked up a 2012 Dodge Charger R/T. It has since been broken in easily and now has 4800 on the odometer. Yesterday i told her that id wash it for her if shed let me take it to the drag strip tonight and believe it or not, she agreed!! At sundown this evening i bolted up my drag radials to her ride (which makes it look F'n badass i might add) and away we went to T&T at Hobbs Motorsports Park. When we arrived i gave the car about 20min with the hood open to fill out paperwork and pick out a potential victim. Initially i spotted a pair of 06-07ish 4.6 Mustang GT's. Despite all attempts to position myself next to either of them during staging i managed to somehow get lined up against a 2012 Grand Sport Vette when it came down to buisness. The driver is a younger guy who works at the uranium enrichment plant i occasionally get sent to. He hauls *** everywhere and sorta looks like a punk (probably a really nice guy) so ive actually been hoping to catch him around town in my car. It is a 6 spd and as i found today he obviously cannot drive it. As you watch the video, see how bad i A: kill him on the tree. B: Pull him thru the 60' mark by almost a full carlength, and C: how the lil 5.7 Charger hangs with him almost to the 1/8th mark. Across the stripe he had me by a mere 2 carlengths - maybe 2 1/2. The temps for the 1st 2 runs were roughly 80ish. Track altitude is 3600ft and the DA was a suprisingly good 4300ft so the times are pretty slow - Left the shifter in D and I disabled the TCS or attempted to. It is setup a tad differently in the new ones. You can press it once to get the deactivation light to illuminate on the dash but there is no second stage of TCS to shut off if you hold the button like on my car (as far as i can tell). Did a decent burnout right out of the water box but when i went for a quick second spin it would just NOT do it. Either i was sliding the locked front tires with a set of already hookin mickeys or the throttle nanny was stepping in - couldnt tell which from inside. Either way here is the 1st race vid - i will post the times below each vid.

The second pass should be considered a hotlap because i basically came right back around and got in the staging lanes. For this particular run i managed to get lined up with an older model (late 90's) 4.6 GT with a minimum of exhaust and probably cold air to boot. He had the power to weight out trapping me by 5mph but we killed em out of the hole and crossed the stripe one tenth quicker - another 200ft and heda caught me but i took home the white copy!

Last but not least i thought id spotted an SRT design 300c so i staged with em. As we pulled into the waterbox the truck that had just launched in front of us blew up at the 1000ft mark, so i shut er off and left the hood open for the next hour and a half that it took to clean up the mess. As we sat i crossed the lane and conversed with the 300 driver. It was actually an SRT8 - it just had the 06' style bumper lip torn off (i know that BS). Otherwise it was stock with an AFE cold air 103 octane and some poopy street tires. As we sat the temps dropped a bit - as did the density altitude. Combined with a car that had a chance to cool off we ran the fastest ET and MPH on this pass. It was the same story as before, put a half a car on em out of the hole. This kid caught me at aboout the 330ft mark and had about 3 cars on me in the end. The differrence was seven tenths and seven MPH. I gave the kid my number and told em to call me next time and we would bolt the drag radials to his car.

Before everyone gets excited about what cars should be running keep in mind that out here at this altitude a stock LS1 Fbody has to make a well driven solid run to break into the 13's and will only do so at roughly 101-103mph.
