Good luck. I have stayed away from the ones I find with out the bellow, but at $10 you can't pass it up! You might have to get something "custom" made.
exactly what i thought. 10 bucks is just 10. if i sell i can still make like 200 off it if i decide to sell

I see them going for 300+. Sounds like you bought a winning lottery ticket.
Sorta. It's like having a winning ticket with nothing to scratch it off with lol I want to put this bitch on already but have no idea how to get a custom bellow made.

I've never seen a bellow-less blackwing lid...what does the outlet portion look like as opposed to a regular lid? Regardless, that's a great find!!

OP post a pic... If they are like most lids u can get a 3" coupler from any hardware store and put it on....

They are not. They have an oval opening on the lid like the stock lids and go round to the maf.

Try SLP.. you used to be able to order the bellow and clamps from their website in the restoration section.. if its not their give them a call.. i believe it was like $34.95 for the bellow and clamps

Nice find on the lid.... Just run a SLP lid tho... Same gains... Less hassle

all this time i thought they were exactly the same, i just had to compare my blackwing with a regular slp lid and that was the first time i noticed that the bellows were differently shaped
Everyone has a SLP I want the blackwing since its no common here. If I sell it how much should I sell it for?

IMO, sell it for enough to get you $10 back, or put it in a box and throw it up on a shelf until a good option comes your way. Since nobody is go to spend a bunch of money for something they can't even use.

Thats what I thought, then I saw this on ebay about a month ago. I figured someone would be dissapointed spending that much for something that won't work without the bellow.

I'd prefer to use it tho. :( I couldn't heat up a silicone coupler and stretch it to the blackwing and never take that hose clamp off only the other end going to the maf?

Could you not use the stock one? They look like the same shape
Rtzracer
06-15-2012, 08:25 AM
NO, a stock bellow will not work on a Blackwing lid, it is to small. If you can get someone to plastic weld you a piece on the Blackwing lid to a 4" that would be the way to go. Then you can just use any 4" coupler.
I don't want it to look ghetto but worth a shot

I may have your answer... I have the K&N FIPK CAI in my car... And the outlet on my filter is oval like on the blackwing... Maybe you can pick one of those couplers up somewhere. I can't upload pictures from my phone. But look on Google! It may work! Goodluck

Good call dude! If I remember correctly, when I switched from my k&n to the blackwing, the bellows was near identical.

^^^ thanks I try to help out when I can... I bet K&N can tell you where to get that coupler... Or maybe even sell one to the OP. That would sweet if it fit. Like he said EVERYONE has a SLP lid... Few lucky ones Run Blackwing. I bet they dnt rub on the lid like most SLP lids do. Hope the OP reads this before he sells the lid!!!

Anyone know the part number for that bellow?
SLP #10956, they called it "Connector, Air Cleaner to mass Air Flow Sensor" I got it off the SLP Blackwing Lid installation sheet.
i read in another thread SLP sold the last bellow a while back. i was asking for the part number for the k&n bellow. thanks tho.
i googled the part number you posted and it brought me right back to this thread lol

14k, measure around the oval opening on the lid, then divide by 3.14, that will let you know the (round) size of a bellow that might work.

I'd keep looking on eBay for the boot, but I think some
of the turbo hose places like bakerprecision might have
custom or close-enough options.
I'd even consider laying up my own out of silicone and
fiberglass cloth, although this is liable to be not-pretty.
For that matter a plain fiberglass layup for the transition
and a simple round hose, would be pretty easy to fab.
Paint it black and nobody knows nuthin'.

I've sent K&N an email to get the dimensions of this FIPK bellow. I'll take those dimensions and compare them with my Blackwing bellow. I'll let you guys know what I find out.

Hello Derek,
Thank you for contacting K&N and inquiring about our products. The dimensions to that part number 08746 are
HOSE; 6-1/8" X 2" ID OVAL TO 3-1/2" ID TPRD 26DEG ANG REINFORCED. OVERALL LENGTH 6". MADE OF 3 PLY REINFORCED SILICON
Please let me know if you have any other questions?
K&N bellow is to small. I test fit a friends. Looks like I'm SOL on my blackwing steal :(

Ok take the circumfrence and divide by 3.14 and get the diameter. Should be roughly 5.25 get a fermco coupler thats around 5.25 and soak in boiling water. Then squeze into ovsl shsp and pull over the lid and let it cool. The heat will contour the rubber and make it easier to work with
Isn't the size of the maf like 4in?

Stock MAF has an ID of 74mm and an OD of 85mm
The "85mm" Z06 MAF has an ID of 90mm and an OD of 96mm

There are 5.25 to 4" and 4.5" adapters. i see off the top of my head. i personally have access to a CNC machine so id have a 4.5" to 92mm aluminum Maf housing made for mine to house an LS3 Maf card. ill see if i cant get the part number for a 5.25" to 4" coupling. can you confirm the circumference of the bellow opening for me?

http://www.fernco.com/dimensional-drawings/plumbing/flexible-couplings/stock-couplings-1002/1002-43
This should work on the Lid side, and has a 3.38" outlet wich should work perfect for an 85mm Maf off a truck or an aftermarket 85mm Maf just soak it in hot water and push it on the lid and clamp it and then clamp the maf side while its still hot and let it cool and it should hold its form pretty good
firegawk
07-19-2012, 07:27 AM
The problem is that the stock Blackwing bellow is only 2 3/8" long, from lid to bellow. This Fernco one is 4" long. If it's any longer you'll have issues getting the back 4 tabs to bite into the lower air box assembly.

same concept applies for the boiling.... once it soaks in boiling water it nearly belts it... it will hold almost any form it cools in...
