Default New Headlight Help

I am currently looking for a pair of new headlights, but there are so many out there and I have no idea what is good and what is junk. Basically I am looking for projector HIDs with halos and LED accents (preferably the three single ones on the side) that are blacked out. Anyone with pics and advice would be highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
Brendan

Nobody makes an HID projector with LEDs... Closest would be halogen projector with LEDs on ebay.

You have... But with halogen projectors, not HID projectors.

Most would be satisfied with halogen projectors with an HID bulb... But you said HID projectors.

Sounds like you have seen what you want before.. If you have they are on ebay, with halogen projectors.

I'm not a headlight guru, I just know enough to hold a conversation and not look completely ignorant. LOL

IIRC the shrouds are different as well as the shape on the lens.. An HID projector will have near perfect output.. The halogen with an HID won't.

Why? Halogen housings/projectors can't keep up with the intensity of HID bulbs and they are also meant to to reflect the light different, halogen and HID bulbs are designed/shaped differently.

90% of people would be perfectly happy with a decent halogen projector and a HID bulb. The others, you either need to DIY or pay someone a pretty penny for the work they performed.

Re: HID Projector vs. Halogen Projector differences?

1. Focal point
2. Difference in the way xenon and halogen bulb emit light & spetral power density

+.5 for me! LOL

I've seen some comparisons that show a much greater difference.

Basically, Halogen & HID Projectors are shaped differently to work with the different characteristics of Halogen & HID.

A Halogen bulb has a wire filament.
An HID bulb has an electric arc.

The filament & arc are shaped differently and produce different amounts of light.

Some Halogen Projectors handle HID Ok, some don't. Either way, it is not the optimal solution.

Many HID kits are crap and don't get the HID arc close enough to the position of the Halogen filament so the beam pattern and output are negatively affected. This problem is much greater and more noticeable on Halogen Reflector headlights which is why it is recommended to never put HID in a Halogen Reflector housing.

Check out the Lighting FAQ for some options.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...hting-faq.html

You can either modify an OEM or Aftermarket housing to install OEM or Aftermarket HID projectors -OR- you can buy a pre-made set from someone like Blackbird Lighting Solutions (BLS - a sponsor)

Well after reading this and doing a little research on my own, I think I would just like to stick with hid projectors with dual halos.. Anyone have any pics?

Check out the Lighting FAQ I posted above.

ClownVomit bought a set of the R8-style headlights and replaced the crappy Halogen Projectors with OEM HID projectors from an Audi A4.

Here is a direct link to the thread:

There is more like that in the Lighting FAQ.

You can also talk to BLS about making you a custom set of headlights.

Contact BLS. Or modify a set like ClownVomit did.

Email sent. Our pricing won't be very competitive with ebay projector headlights but they will perform better and be aesthetically much more pleasing. Some of the ebay headlights can be pretty busy.
