pat g cam now head choice
I got a 6.0 with stock #853 heads and bbk 85mm intake and a pat g 230/236 .600 .601 112 lsa in it. It currently has a 226 230 cam in it. My question is what head choice should i go with texas speed prc 2.5 5.3 heads or texas speed ported l92 head and intake setup? Will the new 230/236 cam benefit with the ported ls3 topend or will the 5.3 suit it better.

Is yours the LQ4 with the dished piston, or the LQ9 with the flat-top piston? What do you plan to do with this combo (street, strip, both)? What others mods do you have to run with this?

When Pat G spec'd my cam one of the big things he needed to know was yet heads I have. Cathedrals vs rectangular ports like very different came. Did you get the cam from him or used?

cam will work with both heads well. make more power with l92 set up. 6 degrees is sufficient split especially when the heads exhaust flow has been improved. biggest concern with lq9 and l92 heads which have a big intake valve is ptv clearance so best possibility to avoid that is to not mill the heads. you will still have decent compression. check ptv clearance. if you still happen to have good clearance, then maybe check ptv again with some .045 or .40 gaskets to further increase compression but not needed. ptv is biggest issue. trick flows are badass but for price cant beat l92/ls3 heads.

Decide which heads will meet your needs best and then sell both cams and have Pat-G spec you a new cam thats tailored for your combo. The intake ports on ported L92 heads may be to big for a 6.0L but stock L92 or LS3 heads are great if your trying to make good power on a budget. This thread has made me want to build a 6.0 with stock LS3 heads, it's kind of a old thread so I'd probably still contact Pat-G to see if there's anything he'd change for your combo.
