Default Anyone who has bought a "surplus" 6.0l block

I am really considering a "surplus" block from a specific individual that we all know. Do these blocks require any machining when you get them since they are pretty much factory stock? One of the reasons I am considering it is because I thought I wouldnt have to do alot of machine work. Are the decks square? What about the main/cylinders?

I didn't use one of those, but yes machining is required. All of the blocks need at least some work, typically quite a bit.

If the blocks didnt need machining, even for a stock application, than everyones car would dyno the same. Thats one of the small differences that make my car dyno only 280rwhp stock, and yet some others dyno 315rwhp on the same dyno, temp and all. Expect some machining like DenzSS mentioned.

Yup. The deck needs work, it also needs align bored, at least honed with a torque plate. All of the standard procedures for preparing a block.
