As crazy as it sounds, I just really missed fbodies while owning my C5 Z. I just love them. I bought a 02 Formula today. It's an auto and is a "NHRA" edition (idk what that even means) but it is one. It's clean and has low miles. I was grinning from ear to ear while test driving it because I really missed that feeling.

It's bone stock but has C6 Z replicas on it.

Right on man, didn't you have a nice red 35th anniversary Camaro a while ago or was that someone else? What are your plans for the Formula?

Welcome back to an F-body. It's always nice to have a Corvette/F-body combo. I should really sell off one of my F-bodies and replace it with a Corvette one day....but I will keep the other. :)

I've owned several other fbodies prior. Here was my 02 SS

I'm just keeping it simple with this one. Full boltons, stall, gears, and a good tire to get it to hook.

They only made 901 Formulas in 2002 and even less of the NHRA edition. Good buy!

As taken off www.nhrata.com:

"NHRA Special Edition Formula and Trans Am (2000-2002) was a commemorative edition to celebrate the NHRA's 50 year anniversary (in 2001), and Pontiac being a major sponsor of the NHRA for many years. In 2000 there was a total of 215 NHRA Firebirds produced, of which 97 were Formulas. In 2001 there were only 145 produced and in 2002 there were 535 produced. The total number produced is 895. The rarest are a few Trans Am Convertible NHRA SE models with approximately 15 of them. Basically the NHRA SE comes with PS cooler (which all '02 Trans Ams have now)and GSC's on 16". The autos came with 3.23's and 6 speeds came with the default 3.42. Nothing really that special except for the cool badges. You could only get NHRAs in white, black, pewter, or red. Also, when you ordered a Formula / Trans Am, you had a choice between the WS6 or NHRA package. It was either or, and they could not be combined. Pontiac has been the Official Car of the NHRA since Oldsmobile's departure as Official Car at the end of the 1995 Season. The NHRA option added $1,070 - $1,095 to the sticker price and included (but not limited to) the following: Hurst manual 6-speed (3.42 ratio) or automatic transmission (3.23 ratio), power-steering cooling, P245/50ZR16 performance tires, and NHRA-specific badges & keychain. The appeal of the 1SH option package (NHRA Special Edition) is parallel to the appeal of any "anniversary edition" car or "special pace car edition." It is a special designation to commemorate the NHRA drag racing series. The NHRA badges were made by Morgan Design Group."

I'm jealous man its a freaking sweet car. I'm partial to cloth interiors as well...

I think its fair to say, fbody owners miss the ride of a fbody as vette owners.
Even though when as owners of only fbodies, they wished they had a vette.

Congrats, dude. I know how you feel!

I had to sell my second 94 Formula to finance my Judge acquistion and DD'd a 69 Grand Prix for two years while I got it up and running. Then when I could afford it and got back into an F-body again, I thought to myself "How could I have gone without one of these cars for so long?"

These cars just fit me like a glove and I want to always have at least one.

So........

when is the for sale thread going to get posted?

Camaro_94
06-17-2012, 04:12 PM
lol.

This is my 7th or 8th one so far... And I think the 12 car I've owned in the past 5 years. I really do like this one though.

joelster
06-17-2012, 04:21 PM
It will be for sale by October. I'd put money on it. The car is cool, but it will bore you, and you won't want to sink a lot of money into it because it needs everything, even all of the basic bolt-ons.

Congrats! I used to have a 02 c5z and 98 T/A a4 combo as well prior to joining the service...

Everything was fine and dandy until i started modding the T/A then everything turned sour real quick... And it was bolt on only as well... I was getting to the point where my T/A was getting worse gas mileage and reliability compared to my previous Z...

I would personally would just keep in intake/catback only

When i get my next vette, I will DD my 85 and it will pretty much be intake only like it is right now

And agreed with joelster :P

but on a serious note, nice clean ride, and i would keep this one because formulas are nice sleepers to some extent

congrats man. thats a clean bird. werent you just trying to sell your vette? lol

Yeah, but it's hard finding a serious buyer who appreciates the build quality that went into it. I just realized I can't get what I want, and I don't have to sell it, so it ain't goin anywhere. I'd rather keep it than just give it away.
