I recently replaced the brakes on my 2000 firebird. They have been on for a while with no problems. I did the bedding and greased them up as told. But now as I drive the left rear squeaks loudly while driving. It stops when I apply the brakes, only occurs when driving... Any ideas on how to stop it?? Thanks!

Its your break hardware kit. You know those little silver colored tabs that go between the pad and bracket? Its rubbing the rotor. Had the same issue a while back. It won't hurt anything but will probably drive you insane.
A GM hardware kit will stop it if you want to spend the money.

It's already driving me crazy... Thanks for the help. How much do the gm kits run?

It's also only there when I turn any to the left..
And to elaborate on the squeal it is on and off like it's only a certain spot that it hits. When I speed up, it speeds up, when I slow down it slows down

I had the same problem. I took a pair of snips and cut 1/8" off each end. No more squell

the ends on each side. This is the part that is scrapping against the rotors. If you don't have snips, you can use a grinder to remove the material.

I was finally home long enough to try and snip the hardware but ended up screwing up everything. When we did the brakes I used locktite on the caliper bolts.. I loosened them but the rubber part spun along with the bolt, last time I could hold this with my fingers but it was stuck this time. I tried retightening the bolt and it SNAPPED in half... Most still stuck in the caliper. The caliper still stays on so hopefully I can make it somewhere to get the bolt tapped out.. So mad at myself!
