Default Changing oil after rebuild

When is the right times to change oil after a rebuild? I just did new main and rod bearings, and I also put new piston rings in. The top end got a new cam and all new valve train parts besides the valves themselves. I changed it once after the initial start up/ cam break in. Just wondering if I should change it again at x amount of miles.

If you kept things clean I would do one after a warmup and then maybe at 1000miles.

You do know roller cams do NOT need to be broken in right?

Oops I didn't know that, I thought the sheet said that you should. I have about 200 some miles on it so far, and its running good.

For the guy saying about cam bearings, I did have them replaced, they were starting to wear down to where you could see copper or whatever it is. Thanks for the advice, I'll change it soon then if 200 or so is recommended.

that's like 3 different answers, does anyone have a for sure answer? If not I will probably do an oil change soon, around 250-300 miles, then just go normal from there. I don't drive the car much anyway. It probably sees < 3 miles a year.

I've built more than a few engines, startup debris is bad....don't want it pumping through your engine. If some cases the filter gets plugged up enough and the oil bypasses the filter element.

Here what I do for oil changes.

100 miles
250 miles
500 miles
1000 miles
Every 3k after

It's normal to see debris on the magnet or swirling in the oil, this is the stuff you don't want pumping through the engine.
