I have a 2001 Pontiac Firebird with a 3.8L V6 and it was given to me as a graduation present. Recently i actually ran out of gas in the car because the fuel gauge does not read properly and ever since then i have been having issues with it not wanting to start and it actually died on me while i was driving it yesterday. We just replaced the fuel pump a few months ago. also i have noticed that the car is starting to overheat. i had rinsed out the radiator i didnt do a full flush or anything and then put new antifreeze in the radiator but it still is overheating a tiny bit. any ideas??

Move up north? Kidding haha. So the overheating issue has only started AFTER you ran out of gas? Also, I used to have the same car. Fuel gauges in them like to tell lies. I recommend treating 1/4 tank as empty.

haha. The overheating issues were happening since my step dad gave me the car and the actually fuel gauge reads either full or empty we think the sending unit is bad

Noticing any leaks? Fans coming on? Couldn't hurt to do a full flush.

No leaks and the fans do turn on but im gonna flush the system next week but that's not my main concern

Make sure you put the proper antifreeze in with the right amount of water (not tap water), should be 50/50. Then get a manual to see if there is a air bleed procedure to make sure there is no air in the coolant.

How many miles on the car?

check to make sure your air deflector is under the car and not broken or missing havehad this happen

the car has about 150,000 miles on it and i buy the pre-mixed antifreeze and im not sure what to look for under the car
