Well I finally got the engine on the dyno and got it ready for tuning. Today we just got all the setup completed and ready to start testing. We ran a pull to 5500 RPM with the MSD timing curve number 1 in the MSD box. Here are the results. Any suggestions are welcome. My goal was 425 HP and that's only 8hp away from the base. So with some tuning and break-in that should be achievable.

Plan is to raise the max RPM on the MSD box to 6,000 and then starting with timing curve adjustments using the pills and or the MSD Pro+ software. Real happy with the results. Remember this is for a 2100 Lb street rod so big numbers are not the goal. But hey, more is better right?

I think you may be the only guy that revs these motors to 5500 haha. Cam swap and run it to atleast 7000 and it will be a ton more fun. This would be a good truck setup before though.

Plan is to raise the max RPM on the MSD box to 7,500

Fixed, for you. :drive:

Block is a 5.7L from 99 TransAM. The heads are 317 castings. I put a Texas Speed Torquer V3 231/234 .643/598 111 camshaft. Along with the cam I am running the Edelbrock RPM Performer intake with MSD setup. Also installed set of 3.905 Bore, 3.622 Stroke, 6.125 Rod, -4cc Dish LS1/LS6 Mahle Forged pistons with Scat forged I beams 6.1". Carb is a Holley 4150 Street Avenger.

Cam came with 7.425 hardened push rods and PRC .675 dual hive valve spring kit with seats, seals, and retainers.

So far we have only ran with timing curve using the timing pills from MSD. The pill is number one. We will play with each of the six pills today and see where it takes us. Based on that my thought was to use the software to fine tune. For getting the dyno setup we left the default MSD max RPM at 5500. We'll go higher today for some fun. I have a feeling the heads are going to be the restriction based on what you guys have shared.

Thanks...K

Set the rev limiter to 6800, tune from there, than has more left in it and will peak by 6500ish.

Looking good. With all that hardware that thing should easily spin much higher. You should think about a single plane with such a light car. Either manifold is going to have more torque than the car will put down but the single plane wouldn't have started dropping HP at such a low RPM

By the way, who the hell still has a working dot matrix printer?
