Fueling & Injection - Stale gas

Guys, would stale gas cause an engine to backfire out the intake AND exhaust?
This is on a gen1 SB that we put a GM RamJet intake with FAST EZ-EFI controller on. I asked in the SB-BB forum ... 100 views, no replies.

It's possible, but I would check the ignition to make sure everything was working right there too. What makes you think the gas is stale?

I know the gas is stale from the car sitting for several months and the smell. We dropped the tanked and dumped as much as we could out. After starting the car for the first time, it idled fairly smooth, but them slowly got worse. After a few minutes, it was clear something is going on. Backfiring out the intake and the exhaust. Changed the plugs, and they have the smell of stale gas. New ones didn't help tho.
It may very well be related to ignition...thats what it sounds like to me. Ignition is new MSD box with MSD pro-billet dist.
But was just wondering if anyone had seen this result with stale gas.
