Pontiac GTO 2004-2006 - Which clutch,Spec or Ram???

I ate my stock clutch yesterday,need a whole kit,car is an 04 daily driver with no mods until now.I am looking at either a Spec stage 1 or 2 or a Ram XDH.Both of these are very mild set ups for DD use.The only thing that i saw different is the price,Ram's entry level is way in the $400 area,and a Spec stage 1 is in the $250 area,and lastly the Spec stage 2 is in the $350 area.Has anyone used both and give me an educated suggestion??Car has 90K on it right now.And one more question,does an FBody hydraulic slave work on the GTO?Might as well replace everything while i am in there.Thanks.Chris

thats cheap. i was going to say why not an ls7 clutch but im sure theyre more expensive.

the fbody slave/throwout bearing can be used but the fittings from your stock stuff will need to be used.

Diamond and Monster offer good entry level clutch packages as well, just for a couple other brands to look at while you make you decision.
Stage 1 or 2 would be great for a mostly stock DD and they should take quite a bit more abuse than the stock GM LS2 clutch.
Maybe give a could vendors a call and see what deals they can give you and which brand you like the best.
You can use an F-Body throwout bearing if you want, but i think the GTO specific one has come down in price lately and there is no real reason to go the F-body rout any longer.
If you have money also maybe look at upgrading the hydraulic lines and maybe getting a speed bleeder as well. those are both items most GTO people are very happy with as it makes the install easier and keeps shifting more consistent when the clutch is hot.

I like the Monster stage 2,it comes with a billet flywheel and throwout bearing for like $570 for the whole package.leaning towards this kit right now.

Look into the Hendrix street slayer its a great clutch

Advance Auto now has the GTO slave for the same price as a Camaro one

i have a monster 3 and love it but for a cheap replacement the ls7 ive heard to be good but me personally why replace with an oem style when you can get better for the same price. i would go with spec or monster ive heard great things about both. and while you are there i would get a speed bleeder

for your app, LS7 is the best choice . I am thinking of going with it as well even with my mods. I have researched ALOT on GTO clutches. F-bodys are completly different when it comes to clutch choices compared to our GTO's

I am a fan of the Textralia OZ700. I've had it in for 15,000 miles. Never had a problem or an issue. It feels perfect and has worked great at the strip and on the street.

Get monster, you won't regret it.

It's great for DD and if do mods later it will hold up to 525trq

And then break..

Search on ls1gto and here and look at all the monster failures.
Granted it would be ok if there was customer service.

I've got the spec stage III. It is a bit firm for DD. I do it, but hate it in stop and go traffic at lights. Always feel like I'm going to stall it or run into someone when it engages.
