I currently have an 81 Chevy swb, that has a vortec 350, with a mild cam, headers, three inch exhaust, and lowered. I recently acquired a ls1 our of a 02 Trans am, which we did a lq9 swap in. I'm wanting to make it an carb motor. Want to know what can size would be good, injector, and such. Built the lq9 myself but only put a 228r cam in it. So this build I'm kind new to the ls1 but not entirely a newbie. Thanks for you're help.

cam size would depend on your power goals. for a carburetor look at the edelbrock victor junior with an MSD 6-LS timing control. your carb choice will also depend on your power goals but a Holley 750 should be good. if your looking for around 400 check out the TSP Torquer v2 cam, i would say the MS3 but in a truck it wont have enough low end torque. Your power goals are rally important to deciding on a cam though

look in the carb conversion section.maybe take a look at comp cams camquest .you can try different cams and see where the cams make power.the edelbrock intake/ing system is a good choice .

that 228r is a neat cam, good for blowers, turbos, and mild NA setups. find out how much power you would one day like to have, and how you would get that power out of the car....by means of heads, built motor etc....nitrous, turbo, centri....whatever....then just fine a cam for the application. the idea is to put in one cam and be done. swaps can be costly and waste time.
