Default Gxp won't run

2006 grand prix GXP won't run!! I have fuel pressure! It just won't fire when cranking! My fiance was driving it and it just cut off on her. I was told it should be the crankshaft sensor. Any other suggestions??

I bought The car may 20th.

Since then ive replaced the alternator, tensioner pulley assembly, serpentine belt. The a/c went out last weekend and now this.

It sounds similar to symptoms of a bad crankshaft sensor. Was there a check engine light for it? Does it start when cold? The ones I've come across usually will start when the vehicle is cold but once it warms up it will die and when you try to start it back up again, it just cranks and cranks.

ECT (engine coolant sensor) has failed in the over temp position.... the nannies are protecting you! Replace the sensor with a GM original. You may get it to start by disconnecting the sensor, but other things will not function properly until it is fixed properly.

This happened to me in my Monte. When I put the key in the 'On' position, your temp gauge went all the way up and the fuel gauge went all the way down. I used a handheld scanner to get me off the side of the road by resetting the codes after I was SURE I wasn't overheating. After I replaced the sensor, it was good to go.
