I just recently replaced everything in the rear end, pinion gears, pumpkin, bearings and races. It was quiet as could be for about 3 weeks, now it is faintly starting to make the whining noise that my old one made. It's not near as loud, but it's there.
Is my problem even the rear end, or is something else causing this??
Thanks!

having similar issues yet I have heard that the whine could be even caused by a bad driveshaft angle that would put excessive pressure on the bearings or joints. look at this link

What exactly did you replace? I mean what joints or bearings?

It was a new torren rear end factory OEM for a ls1. I replaced everything but the housing and axels. I even replaced the wheel bearings. all the bearings and races were brand new.
The noise seems a bit different than my old one. The old one was a louder howl that you heard after shifting into 3rd. It would fluctuate as you went over elevation. This new one is more constant and starts right away in 1st. It also sounds like a revolving sound.
Thanks!

If it's making noise take off the cover and see what's wrong. Driving it is just going to make it worse.

This is probably a dumb question, but did you break it in gently after completing the work? I've heard many people caution about driving gingerly for at least 500 miles after the installation to ensure that everything "wears in" properly. Just a thought...
