Well I took the time this weekend to meet up with a few friends and install the Rocker arms, push rods and springs. All in all everything went well. Especially considering I have never done anything like this. Fortunately my boy Dblaron has worked on a few different motors and he was all in.

Removed the coil packs and Valve covers

The stockers

Used a $10 tool for an air compressor that plugs into the spark plug hole to hold the valve up, so we could use a spring compressor tool to remove the stock springs. Used magnets to catch the keepers. Popped the new ones on and reversed the process

Jmorris prepped the new rockers with oil while Tcorzett guarded the food...

pulled the old push rods and popped in the new ones.

After once all the springs and pushrods were replaced we started putting on the new rocker arms.

This side was all finished up. You can see the home depot orange rubber mallet we used to tap the springs to make sure every thing was centered and good to go

We turned the crank bolt over a couple turns and checked the pushrods and rockers again to make sure everything was good to go. Started her up and heard a funky tapping sound coming from the driver side valve cover. You could feel it tapping and new it a rocker contacting the valve cover. Pulled it apart and you could see a small mark on the tip of the rocker...

You could see where it was hitting on the valve cover. For some reason there was this bump in the casting that was not machined down. The other three were clearly cut down, but it is like they forgot to do that one.

Nothing a little grinding couldn't fix. Just shaved a little bit off, cleaned her up and bolted her back together. Started her up and it was all good.

Car feels great. Pulls really well in the what used to be the dead spots. If Pat G can gain 13rwhp on his stock manifold G8 with no additional tuning, I'm sure I picked up a nice little bump considering I have LT's, and a Ported intake manifold. The throttle response and pull up top is excellent.

There was a lot of horsepower and Morris's driveway, but nothing as bad ass as this custom ride. Even has dual exhaust!!!

You can perform this mod with the stock cam and DoD lifters?

Why did you take the front bumper off? What length push rod and what rockers did you use?

I installed HID's

I ran these rockers with stock springs and pushrods. I just milled the rocker stands in the lathe. 035".

I have 3.27s.

Heads and Cam are about 440rwhp.

How do you like the gears? I'm contemplating going with 3.27's myself down the road. I have a slightly taller than stock tire on it now and it's definitely hurt the performance, so I think a gear swap would help a bit.

I did the gears when I was on just full bolt ons and I loved them. I lost about 1-1.5 mpg highway, but nothing on the street.

Woke the car up a lot. Especially when you start pulling at the top of third and through 4th. Just made the car move a little easier and not feel like it was falling on it's face up there.

On the street it was a revelation. So much easier to get the 2 ton beast moving. For the 620 bucks I paid for the new diff and free install it was worth it for sure. Now that I'm cammed it really helps with a shift point that is 600rpm higher. Gets you in and out to the next gear.

That's great to hear. Once I get mine back on the road I'm going to make lighter wheels/shorter tires (my DR's are taller and heavier than stock) and gears the next things on my to do list.

Nice drive way and nice get together.

Do these rockers have upgraded trunions ? Do they run smoother than the stockers - ticking ? Did you upgrade the lifters already ?

Do you think I can use those pushrods and rockers with pac 1215 springs on stock lifts and cam? At least I swap heads and cam?
