drive clean is changing next year. its going to obd2 scan and will check if the systems have run there test in pcm before it will give a pass. how does this affect tuned cars if you delet a code in pcm with tunning program does it affect if the test have pass in pcm. will this be a problem with tunned pcm. im shure some tunners will chime in.

Are they doing this in conjunction with the dyno test, or are they doing away with the dyno test altogether, and only doing the OBD scan?

I don't know what they'd be looking at, other than maybe check engine lights, and to see if the O2 sensors are doing their thing?! Otherwise, yeah, dunno ... what kind of a "check" and what happens if you have things like rear O2 sensors deleted?!?!?

Good question!!!!

It will be interesting to see what happens with mine.

I use the stock computer to run my gauges and ABS, that is it. I have an aftermarket running the motor. It uses wide band sensors to adjust the AFR.

Im curious to see whats going to become of my car now that its obd2 and using a pcm from a 99+ LS1 and how they would test mine or what they would classify it as.

Well, since OBD2 only came into effect around the '96 model year, then I would "guess" that any pre-'96 vehicle may still do the traditional dyno/sniffer test?

I read that 98 and newer will be tested OBD2 and 97 and older will stay with the 2 speed idle test to 1980 standards

They are going away with the Dyno everything will be a 2 speed idle test

When exactly is this taking place? if its January I will let my plates expire in November and wait 2 months.

Jan 2013. It will change. 95 and older will just be idle.
Anyone know when you delete codes does the PCM still pass the tests in PCM

It totaly depends on what codes are deleted. If you delete rear O2's then it cannot run the cat monitor. If you get rid of any EVAP codes then it will not run the EVAP leak monitor. The big question will be how many monitors do we need to pass.

Swap vehicles they will test the year of the car. 98+ is plug in only, 97 and older is a 2 speed idle sniffer test with no more dyno's so no Nox testing.

I have a feeling you better start looking for a friendly inspector or you won't be getting a pass anytime soon.

It will pass the current hot rod status laws and the dyno test.

I met their laws, when they made them. Hardly fair to keep moving the target.

Hmmm... so I should be safe.

Anyone else find it annoying that we have to do all this emmissions stuff.

I just wish the gov't made it a bit easier on us!

so does anyone on here know if tunned pcm with codes deleted gona effect getting a pass.

Government standard will be 4X the emissions allowed before the car fails according to this:

http://www.ene.gov.on.ca/environment/en/category/drive_clean/STDPROD_075701.html

This will give modified cars some wiggle room, but my guess is that the test will definitely be looking for some data from the downstream O2 sensors.

And it looks like good news in the future for 88-97 model year cars. Although they will need a 2 speed idle test in 2013, if you read between the lines it sounds like it's only a matter of time until 97 and older cars will be completely exempt.

I want this sooooo bad.

I have dozens of non emissions legal parts loading up my basement...

I wonder what sort of a time frame we're on here.... hopefully just a year or two!

What codes are deleted?

air pump codes

Then it won't pass the air system readiness test. It will depend how strict the standards are. Some states that use plug on testing allow 1-2 monitors to read not ready and still pass.

I remember how you could fool the rear O2's by using a resistor, do you think that this would work?
