Bored or honed? Line boring does not change the distance between crank and cam. Honing does as you remove material from the bottom of the cap, raising the crank centerline.
Either way, before you spend the money on a different again, I would get the dampner. All ls chains seem to have a large amount of slack compared to other engines.
