Default My new c6 set up

I finally got my tires for my 18x8.5 and 19x10 C6 wheels for my 98 T/A. 245/40/18's up front and 285/45/19's out back. I heard as long as i take the stopper off of the back wheel wells i would only need longer studs and 3/8 spacers...this true?? Im trying to get these on ASAP!!! Please help

You have asked this question 3 times. I answered. No 3/8" spacers are NOT enough. You'll likely need 1-1.25" spacer if those 19x10's have the high 79mm offset.

I know man sorry. But i have some people here in az telling me different. The guy that told me they would work works at a shop that specializes in fbodies and he said the 3/8 spacer with 19x10 high offset 79mm worked on his 00' z28. But youre right everywhere ive been reading the 1.25 spacer seems correct. Oh and the rear tires are 285/35/19's...typo.

Well unless my 99 trans am is any different, which it shouldnt be, I can tell you right now that dont work. I have tried my wheels with the 5/8" slip on spacer and didnt work. Tucks in WAY to far. I bolted my 1.75" adapters on and it worked, sat kinda flush with the fender. A 1.25 is about perfect, it will tuck it in abit more.

Nice T/A. I do like the staggered look on fbodies so maybe ill go ahead and go with the 1.75. Did you even bother with longer studs or did stock work fine?

Stock worked ok because the bolt on spacer has its own studs for the wheel. Bolt the adapter onto the rear, and the wheels bolt to the adapter.

Mine worked but they stick out abit further than most would like. About even with the lip if not a tiny bit further. If your car is lowered, may need to roll that lip up or it may hit. I'm not sure, my car was stock height back then in that pic and I only had the C6 wheels on it for few weeks while I got new tires for my zr1 wheels.

I'd go 1.25-1.5 max for those wheels

This is my first time ever dealing with spacers...is there a difference between spacers and adapters? I just dont want to be stuck changing out the studs as well...whats the best route and how much will these cost give or take?

spacers slip on and some would require longer studs but I wouldnt slip on a spacer thicker than 5/16" or so. I run 5/16" slip ons on my drag wheels to clear the brake calipers but I wouldnt want to go thicker. Too thick and you start loading the studs pretty hard. The moment force on the studs is much greater as you push the wheel outward.

adapters bolt to the existing studs, and have their own studs which the wheels bolt to. You can get these in just about any thickness. I've seen 3" for vette guys running GTO spares for skinnies, just to get the tire out away from the brakes!

What you want is called an adapter, in about 1.25-1.5" thickness. Some call them spacers and I may have made the same mistake but TECHNICALLY they are adapters.

Now I do run C6 19x10" rims on my thirdgen with a 4th gen rear end and a 5/8" spacer. Its a slip on but it also is a hub centric slip on, where theres a machined lip on it that slips into the hub to give it more of a press fit. I'm using longer studs for this and have no issues so far. Only reason I run 5/8" slip on is because of the hub centric section that gives more support. It press fits in so tight its like an extension of the wheel. I could have it welded in place to be honest.
